Summary: We used our SPL meter to test the volume level of these headphones as well as to test the noise cancellation capability as well. With the Active Noise Cancellation disabled, we saw maximum volume levels of 99.7 dB and with the Cancellation Enabled (and Linx Audio activated) we saw SPL levels of 106.3 dB. So do these really cancel noise or do they just boost volume?
Pros: Excellent sound quality when powered, Very good noise cancellation, Good battery life, Comfortable on larger heads, In-line volume control, Sturdy design and nice case for transportation
Cons: Mediocre audio quality when not powered, Not for smaller heads, Price - For $100 less the NC500SC are a better value.
