Able Planet Clear Harmony NC1050 Review

9 June 2013
  • Conclusion: Able Planet’s radically liberal approach to DSP with the Clear Harmony NC1020 seems to create more problems than solutions. We enjoyed the headphone’s affinity for detail, but its bright mids, pounding bass, and Kodachrome color treatment of the music were simply too much for our taste.
  • Pros: Clear detail, Decent noise-cancelation, Comfortable
  • Cons: Sharp, artificial sound signature (active mode), Lack of presence in the high end (passive mode), Heavy bass, Unimpressive build quality

  • Conclusion: The Able Planet Clear Harmony NC1050 offers excellent audio performance and very good noise cancellation, making it a solid competitor in a crowded field led by Bose.
  • Pros: Excellent audio performance with strong bass, clear highs, and no distortion. Quality active noise cancellation. Extremely comfortable fit, ideal for long listening sessions.
  • Cons: A slight hiss is occasionally detectable when noise cancellation is activated. Uses AAA batteries instead of a rechargeable cell.
