Summary: This review may not mean much as I never actually got it. I purchased it because i wanted to use the wifi feature. After doing some research I decided it would not work for me. This device's OS can not be upgraded as it was discontinued. The graphics are very poor and the OS is from 2002. If you want something basic just to store information it may be great.
Summary: I bought this for my 8 year old. It makes a great mp3 player, decent video player. Plus allows him to play games and "draw". I wouldn't recommend it for any child over the age of 12 as it is not a reliable pda. Looses connection, automatically hard reset, forcing re-installation of anything needing registry writes.
Summary: The Toshiba e740 is either the most advanced PDA of it's day,or an old PDA with a lot going for it.I have had several and was well pleased with all of them. The main feature is the Built In Wi-Fi.That alone makes it worth having. My Ipaqs are not as strong even tho they use a separate card! It's a pretty standard PDA with Windows Mobile 2003 as the OS.It has way more uses than a Palm and is usually priced in the low 20s. Get one, they're worth it!
Summary: After reading I realized the E740 was going to have some issues, I regret not waiting for an E755 to become available. They don't have some of the issues the E740 has. I got this to do two things: one is to read media files from an SD card, one to check and answer email and web sites. I have purchased a couple different SD cards now, and the device will not work with the new ones. It will only work with a couple of older ones we happened to already have.
Summary: The battery is very week and I need to carry the charger with me. Another issue is that I can not log in to wireless networks which are locked, even I have the password, as this pda is unable to see the SSID of the wireless network locked and is not asking for any password to login to it. The only wireless network I could use, was my own, which has no password at all. I even tried to use on free wireless networks, at KFC or McDonald's.
Summary: This product has some obvious places that needed to be changed and updated: awkward design, terrible battery life, weird setup function for wifi and reset that occurs too often. It is a decent product but incompatible with Microsoft Vista and Office 2007. I wouldnt buy a brand new one if I was really concerned about function and usefullness to my everday life.
Summary: I was looking for a pocket PDA with the ability to connect to the internet and the TOSHIBA E740 seemed to be just right; it had a convenient size / feel to it and it came with many accessories. It looked great with all the features ergonomically placed & it was made of mostly metal. It could run dual memory cards for extra storage - both CF & SD cards. It's screen was very clear and displayed pictures well. It was priced more reasonable than other PDA / Pocket PCs.
