The PDA, which measures 3.01 x 4.71 x 0.65 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 5.8 ounces, can be controlled using the included stylus or using bare fingertips. It features a 5-way navigation button, and 4 programmable application quick-launch buttons. It also features a biometric fingerprint reader.
The iPAQ hx2790 has a 3.5-inch transreflective TFT touch panel display with a QVGA (320 x 240 pixels) resolution. It has a dot pitch of 0.24 millimeters and supports up to 65,536 colors. It also supports display in both portrait and landscape modes.
The HP iPAQ hx2790 comes with 320 megabytes of memory. This can be expanded using the 1-bit SDIO and 4-bit SD/MMC type memory card slot. It also has a slot for CompactFlash II.
The device is powered by a removable 1440-mAh rechargeable lithium ion battery. A 2880-mAh battery is also available as an optional purchase.
The iPAQ hx2790 outputs audio through the built-in speaker or through headphones using the 3.5mm stereo headphone jack.
The HP iPAQ hx2790 supports high-speed wireless access to the internet, email, and corporate data though IEEE 802.11b/g with an operating distance of up to 304 meters. It also connects to other devices at up to 10 meters through Bluetooth.
