The HP iPAQ hx2490 is a PDA that measures 3.01 x 4.71 x 0.65 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 5.8 ounces. It is powered by an Intel 520-MHz PXA270 processor and has 64 megabytes of SDRAM. It runs on Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC (Premium Edition) which comes with Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Windows Media Player, and Internet Explorer.

The PDA can be controlled using a stylus. It also features a 5-way navigation button, and 5 programmable buttons which are pre-set as shortcuts to the voice recorder, calendar, contacts, messaging, and iTouch.

Display

The iPAQ hx2490 features a 3.5-inch transreflective TFT touch panel display with a QVGA (320 x 240 pixels). It has a dot pitch of 0.24 millimeters and supports up to 65,536 colors. It also supports both portrait and landscape display modes.

Memory

The HP iPAQ hx2490 comes with 192 megabytes of ROM. This can be expanded using the 1-bit SDIO and 4-bit SD/MMC type memory card slot. It also has a slot for CompactFlash II.

Battery

The device is powered by a removable 1440-mAh rechargeable lithium ion battery. This can be replaced with a 2880-mAh battery that is sold separately.

Audio

The iPAQ hx2490 outputs audio through the built-in speaker or through headphones using the 3.5mm stereo headphone jack.

Connectivity

The HP iPAQ hx2490 supports high-speed wireless access to the internet, email, and corporate data though IEEE 802.11b/g with an operating distance of up to 304 meters. It also connects to other devices at up to 10 meters through Bluetooth.
