Handspring's original HotSync for the Visor Edge

Glenn Krocheski-Meyer, Amazon
12 December 2006
  • Summary: Custom-fit to the slim Visor Edge, this cradle does it all. USB HotSync is fast and the drivers are built into Palm Desktop. A separate AC power supply plugs into a wall socket and the cradle's USB connector for recharging the PDA on the cradle. Made of metal, the cradle is sturdy and matches the style of the Edge. Warning to owners of other Handsprings: this cradle fits the Edge only, and can't be used to sync other Visor or Treo models.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS!!!

David Browne "Dizzybee56", Amazon
9 May 2005
  • Summary: 1) The Visor doesn't even fit in the cradle. 2) It isn't even a full cradle. There's no "back support," so even if you could get it to fit, it would fall over and fall out. 3) My computer didn't even recognize it as a USB device.

It has the Edge - revisited

atait, Ciao
19 December 2002
  • Excerpt: "The Visor Edge is probably the best of the classic PalmOS machines. OS 3.5H2 isn't exactly leading Edge (*cough*), but if you want a Palm for the sake of the device itself, you're in for a treat. The case is metal, and the flip cover encloses the screen, so hardly any pocket goop gets in there. The stylus is metal, with a plastic tip, and has a nice weight in the hand like a good pen. The speaker is very loud, and even from a rear jeans pocket it ...
  • Pros: Build quality is stunning .   Fast and reliable .
  • Cons: Expandability for those who need it .

An alternative to Palm

andycharg..., Ciao
1 December 2001
  • Excerpt: "...your cash, check out the Handspring range. It does all the Palm can and at almost £100 cheap. Thats a saving of 33%. Let me describe it to you. Looks. ------ Very similar to the Palm. Similar layout of buttons and overall size. If anything, it appears to be more flat and square than the Palm. My one here is Silver and looks very modernistic. They do come in a range of colours that include, Orange, Blue, Green, Gold and even Platinum! Features. --------- Yes ...

An expensive beauty with a short shelf life

ponty, Ciao
9 July 2001
  • Excerpt: "The Edge is Handspring's most recent addition to it's Visor range. The machine is obviously built to compete with Palm's slimline Vx. I can't deny that it is a beautiful object, the slimmest PalmOS device currently available. Handspring seem to have shot themselves in the foot here. Their unique selling point for the Visor range is it's expansion potential via the Springboard slot. Unfortunately, there's no space in the Edge for a slot, so you ...
  • Pros: Gorgeous looks and feel, lovely cradle, USB sync
  • Cons: Non - upgradeable OS, nasty clip - on Springboard adapter

Un sérieux concurrent pour Palm !!!

benghali, Dooyoo
14 June 2011
