  • Summary: Its okay for an outdated PDA, the version I got didn't have WiFi and the interface that it uses is a little old. The screen is very responsive though.

  • Summary: Things I like: The battery lasts longer than other Pocket PCs that I have owned but not much longer. It is fast, doesn't freeze up that often, Has Word Mobile. Thinks I don't like: Over priced, Battery lasts longer but not much longer than most others, the Dell Axim is rather heavy so you feel it in your pocket, the On/Off button is placed on the face of the PDA so it is easy to accidentally turn it on and lose batt power, there is no "paint" program like with other...

Dell Axim X51v

  • Summary: The Good: The sleek Dell Axim X51 series boasts Windows Mobile 5, integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, dual expansion slots, and a user-replaceable battery. The Bad: With its less-than-stellar battery life, the Dell Axim X51 didn't perform up to my expectations. The Bottom Line: The Dell Axim X51 series offers a nice combination of features, but I was disappointed by the crappy battery life.

  • Summary: Comments about Dell Axim X51v: I paid more for this hand held which is great but it doesn't have anything more than a cheaper brand would have, also the 600+ processor chews up the battery in no time, so you have to set it on the lowest setting for speed to save battery life (which is OK but if I wanted a slower processor I'd get a cheaper hand held).
  • Pros: Bright Screen, Compact, Easy Controls, Good Compatibility With Other Devices, Lightweight, Useful Features
  • Cons: Processor vs speed issue, Short Battery Life

  • Excerpt: I purchased this PDA because at the time i did not have a laptop and i wanted something for browsing whilst not at a PC. My first impressions of this product were that it is really user friendly. within minutes i had registered it to myself and was browsing the internet wirelessly (via my own wireless router).
  • Pros: compact, intuitive
  • Cons: low battery life

  • Excerpt: I bought the Dell Axim X51v 624Mhz to replace my ageing Palm Tungsten. Its the first time I've used Pocket PC and it makes things a lot easier when synching with my desktop PC. The screen is big and bright, with a good resolution. The built-in speaker is adequate for the job and through earphones the sound quality is very good. I use it with a bluetooth keyboard, which was a bit fiddly to set up at first but works very well.
  • Pros: Looks great, big bright screen, WiFi connectivity
  • Cons: Expensive accessories, needs ROM upgrade for CF cards

  • Excerpt: An interesting product. I had an O2 XDA PDA/phone before this and decided to take the plunge. The device is poorly built. If you are considering one adn like good engineering, please go to Comet or Currys and have a feel of a Dell. Their desktop PCs are the same - cheap, poorly designed housings with painted plastic chrome that wears quickly and bits that break easily.
  • Pros: Cheapish
  • Cons: Dreadful battery life,
