Can't believe I didn't know about this product sooner

MGC, amazon.com
3 February 2012
  • Summary: I love this thing! I got it for my boyfriend because he was practicing all the time and I just couldn't handle it anymore. I bought him this and now he can practice all day long and I barley hear a thing! It also sounds good through the headphone. It does eat up batteries pretty quickly but that was too be expected. I recommend this to anyone!

Packs a punch

Santa's Elvis, amazon.com
23 January 2012
  • Summary: It performed perfectly right out of the box. Matched with nice headphones, it feels like it must be too loud, but, it's not. BANG!, for the buck.

great functionality, poor mechanical design

DannyG, amazon.com
23 January 2012
  • Summary: This product gets 5 stars for the great sound. No buzz, no hum, just nice deep and warm bass tones. The input jack lets me play along with songs on youtube, it's amazing. On the other hand, this product gets 1 star for the cheap plastic case and poor design. The switches, dials, plugs, and everything else about it feels like they will break under the slightest stress.

User Review

Ívar Þórólfsson, TalkBass.com
28 December 2011
  • Summary: I sold my Trace Elliot amp in 2009 and took a break from bass playing. Now when the interest has returned and I have some time to play. I started looking for a product that is compact, lightweight and can be used with headphones to not disturb anyone around me. I found the Vox amPlug Bass on the Internet and decided to go for it. I was pleasantly surprised with the amPlug. For its size it produces a good sound. Don't cheap out on the headphones though!
  • Pros: Small, good sound, cheap
  • Cons: Perhaps easy to break if handled recklessly

Good for Practice on the Road

George K. Taus, amazon.com
12 December 2011
  • Summary: I bought the AmPlug Bass headphone amp because I was looking to downsize the amount of practice equipment I needed to bring on the road for practice. Just this AmPlug bass and an mp3 player thrown in my guitar case and I have all I need to practice while on the road. The sound of the amp is OK, but I find the volume a bit weak. It will do, but I would have liked more volume. I tried it on both a passive and active bass guitar, but the volume does not seem to change.

Awesome

Jorge Arturo Nunez Sabal, amazon.com
19 November 2011
  • Summary: With this small gadget Im practicing everyday now, without bothering anyone. I can walk around and grab a Soda without unplugging myself. The sound quality depends a whole lot on your earphones, I have the Ultimate Ears monitor system and the sound is deep, crisp and clear. Happy bassman here.

Works fairly well

  • Summary: Works fairly well, except for a bit of static now and then. Still, a convenient way to hear practicing without lugging around an amp.

Great for practice and solo jamming

Anthony G. Franklin "solagratia82", amazon.com
24 August 2011
  • Summary: I purchased this because I just started playing bass again this past year and all the practice amps under $200 just sounded weak or farty to me, and I tried quite a few! I needed something to tide me over so I can practice and play along with CD's etc until I drop the cash on good combo at least 50 watts and 12" speaker equipped. Tone: I honestly enjoy the tone from this little headphone amp more than some of those 20 watt combos I have tried out.
