Summary: This grill works as expected. Just follow the instructions, fill the pan with water and preheat according to the settings for different foods as described in the instruction booklet...or you can experiment with settings that work best for you. It only takes about few minutes per side to cook a steak. More or less depending on how rare or well done you like it. I cooked, steak, hamburgers, hotdogs, and chicken on it and all came out excellent.
Summary: The reviews really helped with this product. It received great reviews and I'm so glad I purchased this item. Easy to use and clean. Grilled food well for indoor grill. Very easy to clean. Great for continued grilling in the long winter months.
Not perfect, but when used correctly, it does exactly what I need.

Summary: This product was given to me when I moved into my current apartment, which doesn't allow propane or charcoal grills. I was skeptical at first, and indeed, my initial cooking attempts on the HPS-SG2 were problematic, as I hadn't worked out the best way to use it. Bear in mind, this does not work like a propane or charcoal grill. Mostly because it isn't one. Its compact size and lower power rating mean you have to alter your standard cooking m.o. to get good results.
Summary: Like many here I had a good experience with my first George Foreman but got a bad product when I replaced it. Did my homework seeking an alternative and thought I found it with this Sanyo grill but after using it twice now find it unsatisfactory. I will say that contrary to what some reviewers have experienced I have had no issues with the unit smoking and have simply filled the drip tray with a cup or so of water as prescribed. This grill just takes too long to cook.
Summary: I really couldn't convince myself that a $34 indoor grill would really do what I wanted and needed, but for that kind of money, I had to give it a try. The grill has exceeded my expectations. It's not totally smokeless but still very good. It is the right size for two people, it cleans up easily and it warmes up quickly. I'm also amazed at how moist the food stays.
Summary: I purchased this product a little over 2 years ago with low expectations. The reviews were great, but for $35.00 I wasn't expecting much from it. Today I would have to say that was an excellent grill. PROS: Easy to set up & use. I never had a problem setting the correct temperature. Meat & veggies keep their flavor well and it won't dry them out. Easy to clean, I just spray it with Pam before and after grilling. I found it best to clean as soon as it cooled.
Summary: If you are looking to grill but don't have a place for an outdoor grill, this is a must have. Food tastes great, almost like it was made on an outdoor grill. It does everything from steaks to burgers. So much better then the foreman grills which to me taste more liek the food was steamed then grilled. Also easily washes, just pull off the grill top and the drip tray and pop them in the dishwasher. Perfect for apartment living.
Summary: So I bought the Sanyo HPS-SG2 indoor grill about 2 months ago and have used it a few times. I opted to get the smaller one due to lack of counter space in my apartment and I honestly don't really think anyone would need a bigger grilling area unless you were trying to cook for more than 4 adults at one time. Overall I think the grill is great. It is very easy to clean and doesn't smoke at all if you add water to the drip pan.
Summary: I was never someone who was big on cooking, and living in a small New York City apartment doesn't make it easy to learn. I thought about getting a George Foreman Grill, but wanted something that seemed a little more like an authentic grilling experience. This is it. The Sanyo grill heats up quickly, is easy to clean, and cooks meat pretty evenly. With a little bit of cooking spray most things don't stick to it, and the char-marks are great.
