Summary: I could not wait to get this item. My George Foreman (one of the original ones) died on me a few weeks ago. I took to the net and started combing reviews. As I came upon poor quality reviews about current GF's, I decided to broaden my research. My next choice was the Cuisinart, but once I read a certain amount of poor quality reviews, despite how ever many praises, I back off.
Summary: This is a heavy and well crafted machine. It really cooks well and I like it. Anything can become a quick sandwich with this non-stick machine. I like taking french bread and putting pesto sauce, sun dried tomatoes and fresh mozzarella cheese inside and slightly oiling the crust with olive oil. Then close the lid and cook for about 6 minutes. The top is heavy so it presses down as the sandwich cooks and thins it out a bit.
Summary: Got this as a B-day gift for wife because she likes Panini sandwiches - now I'm the "hero" of the house. She loves it, uses it 2-3 times a week. Simple operation, easy clean-up and dependable. She has a number of Breville products and each has performed exactly as advertised and this one is no exception.
Summary: I read the reviews for other panini makers and decided to order this one. I don't like to keep anything on my counters so after I use it I unplug it to store away. The fact that the trays are not removable has not been an issue because they easily wipe clean. This product is made well and heats up fast.
