Summary: Lives up to the Breville name. Grilled vegetables--hamburgers--kabobs; all are great. Makes a great panini too. The removable grill plates are a breeze to clean, and the heating elements provide good even heating over the entire cooking surface.
Excerpt: I use this about once a month or so, when friends come over, and it couldn't be easier to use. I particularly like it for making bacon, as it makes an often too messy job, into a non job. The pull out tray catches all of the grease, and it and each of the trays are easily removable for cleaning. Just for that, alone, it is worth the price.
Summary: I purchased this because I love Breville quality and wanted a nice contact grill in the kitchen. Kind of like the "Viking" of contact grills. So this grill can get very hot and sears as well as it says it does. The problem is they really need spatter guards on the sides of the grill plates to keep the spatter of what ever you are cooking from going all over the kitchen.
Excerpt: The Breville Smart Grill is very high quality. First off I want to say, I read a review prior to purchasing this about juice running out of the tray, which has never happened to me thus far. It has a nifty pull out tray that catches grease, etc and it so far has worked great (no messes). In fact the reason why I love this machine is that it is so incredibly easy to clean. Read the factory instructions and you should have no problems.
Summary: I really researched indoor grills before purchasing this for our apartment. I'm very happy with this item. I made burgers\sliders in less than 5 min. The grease just dripped off into the drip pan. It was a lil messy out back but nothing over pouring. I have a glass hot plate under mine. The drip pan has a large capacity to hold oils. It did not smoke fill the room! It smelled fabulous! I also have made eggs and sausage!
