Great card in its day, still moderate today.
27 October 2014
Summary: When this card came out it was awesome! Now it fits in the moderate section of gaming cards....slowly slipping towards the lower end now that the 9xx series of Geforce GTX cards is out. If you are going to buy one, you will want the 3GB version instead of the 1.5GB.
Summary: When I bought my new computer, I thought that a 512 megabyte video card would be enough to handle my PC gaming's needs. Nope. Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Doom 3, were too intensive for the card I had. So I tried a 1 GB video card, and to my dismay, it still wasn't enough. So I got a 2 GB video card.
Summary: Nothing to complain about this card. Didn't have problems to install (it's 29 cm long).Only things to be careful: - It demands a 500w power supply, but with the rest of the system you have to put at least a 650w one.
Summary: Great product. It snapped in easily, once I installed a big enough power supply for it and took out unwanted components to make room for it (I was glad I'd carefully measured the space, it's a big card).
Summary: Pros: Fastest "single-GPU" video card on the planet (The ATI/AMD 5970 with two GPUs clocks higher average frame rates in some games, but speeds up, slows down, speeds up ... the GTX 580 is more consistent). Works great with highest game settings on a 2560 x 1200 monitor plus a 1280p High-Def TV.
