Reviews and Problems with Zotac GeForce GT430 ZONE EDITION

Nice card. Terrible rebate.

Summary: Newegg is #1. No question about it.
Pros: The card works great for what it is - a low end graphics adapter. The heatsink is massive, so it might last longer than my last passively-cooled Zotac card, which ,after about a year and a half, blew 7 capacitors.
Cons: The heatsink is so big that it will keep you from using the slot that's next to it on the motherboard. The Rebate took nearly 5 MONTHS to get to me (4 months, 3 weeks). People who count on the rebates to come back in a timely manner should be aware of this.
Random freezing, but their phone service is awesome!

Summary: Online RMA was declined which immediately threw me into a rage. Called their 800 number and was immediately speaking with an American rep. Friendly and helpful, he said it was declined because the purchase was within the 30 day window. Suggested I send it back to Newegg.
Pros: This is an update to my other review. Haven't found how to edit my original... Fanless, silent and it's pretty to look at. If I ever get a working one, I'm sure it will be nice. No separate PCI-E power jack is nice...keeps things clean inside the case. Their phone support is pretty awesome. No ho...
Cons: Random freezing when I installed this video card. Anywhere from a couple hours to several hours and the computer would lock up. Several times per day. Isolated it to the video card after swapping out hard drives (still freezing), fresh installs of XP (still freezing) and, finally, the video card ...
Pros: One of the rare 0dB solutions in a higher-end (at the time) video card. Needed it for a silent PC I'm constantly working on.
Cons: Has gotten too hot to touch (on the fins even!) just idling around and browsing the web. Had a sound card in the bay next to it. Upon removing that, things seem much cooler, but still. I would have rather had a GIANT heatsink than this one. I was experiencing random freeze-ups requiring a full po...
Summary: Great for a media center PC build. Runs all MKV content wonderfully. Be warned though, that this card is extremely tall, so if you have a very short HTPC case, you may have trouble getting it to fit properly.
Pros: Obviously very quiet. WEI 6.7 for both Graphics and Gaming Graphics
Cons: Heat Sink is a little large and bulk, and hard to fit into smaller sized cases. I have two Shuttle caes and had to change my DVD-R from regular 5.25 to slimline in order to fit both into my case.
Summary: I bought this card to replace a Radeon HD 2600 XT in my HTPC. On the plus side, the screen image is noticeably improved, video generally plays better and the software bundle has some interesting items included.
Pros: Fanless heatsink - silent cooling, fermi-class GPU, HDMI output on card (no adapter required), all the various nVidia acceleration technologies
Summary: I built a new system and got a GT 230 instead of the sparkle 9500 fanless that I was running in my old rig. I was pleased with the sparkle and have had at least 3 other people buy that card and put it in their system.
Pros: 1 GB of ram 96 stream processors runs cool in 3 fan system QUIET.
Cons: DDR3 instead of DDR5 ... NO SLI because the heat sink wraps around the card
Summary: As I mentioned in Cons, the heatsink adds enough height so it does not fit in my HTPC case (hence 1 star off from the rating). Since this is advertised as a HTPC, manufacturer should try to keep a low profile on this card whenever possible (and certainly not make a bulky heatsink that goes over the...
Pros: Silent Remains relatively cool when playing HW decode for 3D blu rays
