Sounds like an airport?!

Jason D., Newegg
7 April 2011
  • Summary: I have a Asus P6T which only has 2 16x PCIe slots right on top of each other. This made the top card run 10-20 degrees hotter, even with 3 22mm fans circulating the air from the side panel, one on top and one from front, one on CPU and one pulling on back.
  • Pros: FPS rock! Crossfire was a breeze. They were on sale for 189 with a rebate. Great value overall. I would recommend them if you use headphones or can deal with 2x heat from crossfire.
  • Cons: Most games ran at 99% GPU, 90 degrees and 75% fan. That makes for a VERY loud arrangement and the BTUs make you sweat.

Great performance, poor materials

Anonymous, Newegg
29 March 2011
  • Summary: XFX usually makes a very good product (I have used their 5770 in 2 builds now), but upon inspection the fan seems to be made of very cheap plastic. A fan that spins that fast in an area that critical should be made of metal or at least better plastic.
  • Pros: Excellent performance for the short time It was in my case.
  • Cons: I noticed that one of the fan blades on the cooling fan was slightly bent or cracked or something as soon as I took the anti-static bag off the card. It performed fine and didn't make noise so I figured it was OK until the card ramped up the fan a little. As soon as the fan sped up I noticed the ...

RMA first one

Joshua M., Newegg
23 March 2011
  • Pros: the video card did its job and acted like a champ. got a 7.8 on windows rating and ran the ff14 benchmark at 4405 on 1080 settings, so i was highly impressed
  • Cons: fan started making a scraping sound and locking up computer, after reading these reviews i decided to RMA asap and get a new one on the way. I am loving newegg and the quickness of the reply, as far as im concerned they are the only reason this card got a 3 so far. hopefully i can give better rev...

Re-Review of "Highly Dissatisfied"

Sarah K., Newegg
21 March 2011
  • Summary: I'm still not totally pleased with this card. Further testing is necessary. After RMAing the original card, the new one works much better, but am having massive issues with drivers now. AMD's drivers won't install correctly, and MS's default driver doesn't appear to be very stable, either.
  • Pros: This one runs cool and quiet. No striped screen of death. WEI able to complete its assessment (7.8).
  • Cons: Having what appear to be driver issues. Catalyst drivers will not install - Windows reports they're not digitally signed. Windows' default driver works, mostly, but crashes when trying to run 3dMark11.

Best Price/Performance

Anonymous, Newegg
13 March 2011
  • Summary: I did a lot of research on this card with various benchmarks and articles mostly from Toms Hardware, I had a concern my cpu would be a bottleneck which honestly its not. This Card works great!
  • Pros: -Still better performance then a gtx 560 ti fermi and hd 6870. -directx 11 -Let's me Play Crysis the way I want to. -help boost my overall desktop and basic pc performance.
  • Cons: docked 2 eggs because of having to rma my card nothing on newegg's part they took care of me! LOVE NEWEGG! First one I got started artifacting and would stall out. Then no longered worked. got it RMA'd which newegg took care of it quickly as soon as they got it and my new one is working great for...

XFX 5870

Thomas A., Newegg
9 March 2011
  • Summary: I will RMA this card as soon as my new 6990 arrives. Going to sell it once it's fixed.
  • Pros: Nice design, good cooler, easy install. Great price!
  • Cons: no additional cables to convert display port to DVI card has turned out to be slightly buggy, as ocassionally it will show artifacts on the single screen mode. Eyefinity works perfectly.

User Review

Farbod J., Newegg
9 January 2011
  • Pros: Plays games with 60fps when it works.
  • Cons: This card keeps freezing on me no matter what I do even with no overclocking or not even playing a game. Very dissappointed in this card. And called XFX for the issue was put on hold for 1 hour and then the person said I dont know what the problem is

Good card but some problems

Anonymous, Newegg
1 July 2010
  • Summary: On multiple forums I see users complain about tearing with this card.
  • Pros: Very powerful card.
  • Cons: Horrible tearing problem. Vsync does not work well with this card. Even when forced I had some "wavy" tearing in almost every game.

RE: Sick GPU

Anonymous, Newegg
28 June 2010
  • Summary: The build went easy so it can't be that, I had zero errors installing anything else, can't be that either. Just wait and see I guess.
  • Pros: Follow up review
  • Cons: I'm actually starting to get a little bit of problems now with the card. First of all, last week I was playing Crysis (Steam) all perfectly well looked amazing no lagg high FPS, fully maxed out. Now though whenever I try and run Crysis, it doesn't wanna load up, the screen just flickers and Crysi...

Do some reaserch before buying this

Giddel S., Newegg
22 June 2010
  • Summary: I am beginning to think that this is just an overclocked 5850 and that is the reason people are having so many problems with this card. ****notice how they reduced the size of the original 5870 to the size of the 5850..they are identical cards, exept the model number****hmmm... makes me wonder?!?!
  • Pros: It runs well for the most part. (when it works)
  • Cons: Very unstable card. A lot of artifacts, grey screen, games crashing to the desktop, locks up.
