Great card, too bad it's extinct

C. Kenyon, Amazon
6 July 2009
  • Summary: This is a great card. I purchased it early January 2009 and it has run smoothly and performed to all my expectations. The good: 1) Works flawlessly with Vista. 2) Runs like a beast, I hosted a game of Battlefront 2, got bored miniaturized while my friends were still playing and played a round of...

Good Card

Lauren B., Newegg
9 February 2009
  • Summary: If you accommodate for the length of the card and can afford 2 6 pin pci-e connectors, this card is awesome! Those can't really be counted as cons though, because all the info is listed in the specs. So it's your fault if you don't have that stuff, not newegg's.
  • Pros: Great Card, runs anything you can throw at it at fairly high fps. I get around 30fps at 1680 x 1050 w/ 2x AA in crysis. Though I did overclock my card's proc to 800 over the stock 775. It performs masterfully and remains cool even with the overclock.
  • Cons: The only con i can think of is that it uses 2 6 pin pci-e connectors. Make SURE your psu can handle it, and if you're planning to sli you might want to look into a new psu that has 4 6 pins. It's also quite large, it's about another 1" longer than my old 8800gt, so make sure you have room in your...

Great card

valerie a., Newegg
31 January 2009
  • Summary: If you had an Ati card in your machine, consider a nuke and pave of your OS.. not only are drivers for Ati and Nvidia bitter enemies, either of them are hard to clean entirely even with driver cleaner pro or scouring manual cleans.
  • Pros: The pros are simply that it does what it should do for your gaming experience. The screen res. can be run high and AA/AF up on most games. Nice graphics on the card. Comes with a 6 pin if you only have one on your PSU. (Use this only if you have to though) Get a PSU that has two 6 pin pci plugs f...
  • Cons: Comes with a 6 pin adapter. This can lead some folks to believe that they can use it with their 350 watt PSU and all will be fine. Included drivers are usually not the best. Good to have them out of the box, but it would be nice to have a "check for updates" feature in the driver installation pro...

Great Product

Lauren B., Newegg
28 January 2009
  • Summary: Overall: Great card for the money, poor documentation and support from the box. Good thing there's the intronets. On the plus side it came with COD4!
  • Pros: Great card, just got it a few days ago. After some initial problems with driver installation the card outperforms my old 8800gt in every game. I'm going to experiment with overclocking and stuff a bit later. The inclusion of COD4 and a free copy of 3dmark Vantage makes this a really decent deal too.
  • Cons: Runs a little hot, but it's not unreasonable. This card is also LARGE, in fact it was about an inch longer than my previous card (msi nx8800gt). It also takes up 2 6 pin connectors. That's not really a con, but it would be if i were going to SLI. I'd have to get a whole new psu. The xfx disc, or ...

Bad Card

Michael S., Newegg
20 January 2009
  • Summary: This was the first of my two XFX products to go bad, and the worst part is their customer service. My XFX 750a SLI mobo died a couple of weeks ago, and I still have not heard back from them regarding my issue.
  • Pros: Was cool when it worked.
  • Cons: Stared artifacting after two days, and then went to the graveyard a week later. I returned it to the local computer store where I bought it and got a BFG instead, that has been in my computer for over six months now and is still rocking.

My final review for these.

Anonymous, Newegg
17 January 2009
  • Summary: I'm not saying that one day down the road im not going to go back to ATi, but for the time being, I am happy as can be! Crysis 1680x1050 4x aa very high settings = 45avg fps!!! WOOHOO!!!
  • Pros: Well, a lot has changed. I got sick and tired of Vista and all the hacked drivers and incompatibilities, so I went back to XP pro. What a wonderful difference the OS makes. I shrank down the OS, only 13 services running, and only 19mb of page file @ idle. I also picked up a Thermaltake Power Expr...
  • Cons: Looks like for my specific hardware plus vista these cards gave me a lot of problems. Went to XP, everything is solved. These things when paired up are freaking beasts. I have new respect for Nvidia.

beast

Jason J., Newegg
15 January 2009
  • Summary: This thing is a beast. Biggest graphics card I have seen. I had to swap guts into a bigger case. This card will not fit in a small case!
  • Pros: graphics are great, very fast, awesome, runs cool
  • Cons: will not fit in a small case, requires 2 PCIe power connections, Did I mention this thing is HUGE!

As promised, here is my second review.

Anonymous, Newegg
8 January 2009
  • Summary: software. I don't know if this on XfX or Nvidia, but I am led to believe it is XfX, as the hardware is completely flawless. On to the good stuff! I am sitting at a core clock of 835, shader 2075, and mem clock 1390, sitting nice and cool at 40c, and under load, never getting past 50c.
  • Pros: I reviewed this card yesterday (01/07/09), with the inability to overclock this card utilizing Nvidia control panel, and the BSOD. I stand behind that review, but I bring information that may be of value to at least one other person, so please, read on. I am going to start with the cons first, an...
  • Cons: guru3d, and checked out their latest experimental drivers. I installed them, and also installed the latest experimental nvidia control panel suite. I rebooted in between both, and I now, can access the control panel options, without anymore crashes. So I think the problem is resolved. I was wrong...

User Review

Blain R., Newegg
8 January 2009
  • Summary: Can't wait to buy another to try out SLI.
  • Pros: Used this card for my new mobo I just built and it screams. Upgraded from a 7900 GS and currently running two 22" monitors without a hitch. Plays COD4 max settings no problems.
  • Cons: None.

Not sure about this one yet

Anonymous, Newegg
7 January 2009
  • Summary: I am going to load up tonight XP x86, and try it all over again. I have it narrowed down to the driver software, for if it were a hardware failure, I would not be able to run 3d apps, am I correct? Well, 3dmark06 likes it, runs it, and returned a decent score at stock clocks of a little over 14K.
  • Pros: Well, to start off with, I am holding myself back from bashing, just because I have not isolated the problem as of yet. Tonight, I should have more of an idea of what is going on, after continued troubleshooting. The card itself is of good quality, nice specs, so on. Here are my rig specs: AMD Ph...
  • Cons: I am running Vista sp1 x86 on both. Now, with the new rig, nicknamed Phenom, and the second, nicknamed Windsor, here are my comparison. I have had No Problems with Windsor whatsoever. This has been my long time game machine, and it has been rock solid and stable for me since I have had it. No com...
