  • Summary: Getting things set up, I noted a few interesting quirks about the driver disk. For one, it includes manuals for many 4000-series and 5000-series Radeons, but not one that corresponds to the actual card in the box. Also not appearing on the driver CD was the TriXX software Sapphire advertised for overclocking the GPU. Both of these can be obtained online, but it can be frustrating to have to search those things out.

  • Excerpt: We recently checked out a new HD 6970 from PowerColor under the DEVIL 13 name. It was a really nice HD 6970 and while it's only a limited edition model, if you're interested I highly recommend you check out our review on the DEVIL 13 card.

Sapphire Radeon HD 6970 Dual Fan 2GB DX11 Video Card Review

Hi Tech Legion

  • Summary: The Sapphire Radeon HD 6970 Video Card had good performance. There was nice headroom for overclocking. There has always been a 570 vs 6970 argument. Honestly, both are good cards and have strengths and weaknesses depending on the game. With this generation, NVIDIA will always have a leg up with tessellated games, and 3D gaming. NVIDIA has integrated both strongly into their technology and AMD hasn't. So if those are most important to you, then the 6970 isn't your card.
  • Pros: New Dual Fan Design, 2GB Onboard DDR5 Memory, Dual BIOS (Stock/Performance Settings), Good Overclock Ability, Sapphire TriXX Software, Good Performance
  • Cons: Price/Availability

Sapphire Radeon HD 6970 2GB Dual Fan Review

  • Conclusion: When taken at face value Sapphire’s Dual Fan edition is just another reference clocked HD 6970 with a fancy looking cooler that was released very late in the Cayman’s marketable life. And yet, after testing we believe this is one of the best options around for anyone looking at new graphics card, regardless of the long shadow cast by the HD 7970.

  • Excerpt: 1 Flares 1 Flares × AMD’s HD6970 has been a favourite with the high end enthusiast user since it was released. The reference design card is a powerful discrete solution but it was never equipped with the greatest cooling solution. Sapphire have decided to replace their reference card with a new Dual fan, heatpipe cooler. At no extra cost.

Test: Sapphire Radeon HD 6970 Dual Fan

Hardwareluxx
11 December 2011
