Reviews and Problems with Sapphire HD6950 Dirt3 Edition

Easy install, crappy results

Summary: Installation was a cinch. Got the card up and running in less than 10 mins. Too bad the card didn't perform as a 280+ card should: game play and video playback suffered from lag/stutters/poor rendering whatever you want to call it. Seeing as how this card supports FullHD I would expect fluid playback, but I was mistaken. My previous card, a HIS 512MB video card actually performed better at rendering 1080p videos. What a shame.
Very good single card, beware of microstuttering in Crossfire

Summary: As a single card, this is excellent, it runs cool and quiet, and the shaders CAN be unlocked to the level of a 6970. It also has a bios switch which is handy and makes unlocking the shaders a much safer process. After running a few benchmarks and feeling pretty happy about the single card purchase, I installed the second (matching) 6950 Dirt 3 edition, and this is where the fun began. There is an issue with SLI and crossfire configuration known as microstuttering.
