Sapphire X1950 Pro Dual
16 April 2007
Summary: In a time where AMD/ATI is starving the whole ATI Radeon ecosystem by the lack of new products, Sapphire is the only company who did the right thing and started thinking outside the box to develop a new competitive product based on what's available today.
When I first heard about the X1950 Pro Dual I expected it to be a PR stunt to draw some attention to the X1950 Pro line of products. But after testing the final board I am surprised by how well it works.
Pros: Good price / performance, Excellent performance, Supports Quad-CrossFire in the future
Cons: Not as fast as other products from NVIDIA, May be obsolete soon by next-gen ATI products, Power consumption
Conclusion: The x1950 Pro sits very comfortably just ahead of the 8600GT in performance and it’s price reflects that. However, even though the latter card is nipping at the heels of the Pro in terms of value for money, the x1950 still manages to remain the king of the budget gamer cards. If you are looking for good performance at a reasonable price and don’t plan to overclock then the x1950 Pro is a great choice.
Pros: Good value for performance, Only single 6pin needed
