You know, I couldn't find the pricing for this card at any site. I guess the retail channel doesn't have this card just yet. You can bet that it will be competitively priced and the passive cooling of this card gives it the edge for a silent PC. You really can't put a price on how great it is to have a nice and silent PC and this card certainly helps meet that goal. Sapphire makes a great product once again and once the card hits retail, I'm sure it will be great. Sil... Read more
ATI/AMD is currently facing some stiff competition from Nvidia with their 9600 GT offering good mid-range performance and slightly undercutting the pricing on the 3870. We believe it is in their interest for AMD to knock down the price of the 3870 about $15 to give some added value. That said as far as the Sapphire Radeon HD 3870 Toxic this is easily one of the better 3870 cards we've seen. The bundles are amazing both with the software bundle of 3DMark, PowerDVD, an... As I mentioned in our introduction, the Radeon HD 3870 Atomic has been my favourite Radeon HD 3870 board to work with thus far, and it should really go without saying that the Radeon HD 3870 Toxic also carries that accolade. While the factory overclocks on the Toxic are far less spectacular than we saw previously, the reason for this makes perfect sense in enabling Sapphire to create a board that can be mass-produced, and given the overclocks we managed to post with o... Read more
We overclocked the Sapphire Radeon HD 3870 Atomic using RivaTuner version 2.06 to increase the clock speeds and under DirectX 10 mode to test for stability. We increased the core and memory speeds together, increasing 5MHz at a time until the card crashed. Once it crashed, we then dropped back to the previous setting and ran a two-hour stability test to check that the card was completely stable over prolonged periods of load. As a quick reminder, Sapphire's factor... Read more
