The Sapphire HD 3850 AGP is a graphics card that plugs into a motherboard’s AGP 4x/8x slot. Based on an ATI Radeon Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), this Sapphire card features full support for OpenGL 2.0 and DirectX 10.1 Shader Model 4.1.

The Sapphire ATI RADEON HD 3850 AGP offers a Unified Superscalar Shader Architecture, Dynamic Geometry Acceleration and anti-aliasing as well as texture filtering features for high image quality and powerful graphics processing,

It also features ATI’s Avivo High Definition (HD) Video and Display Platform, which offers hardware-assisted decoding of High Definition videos. This allows the user to benefit from efficient HD video playback.

For temperature and power management, the Sapphire ATI RADEON HD 3850 AGP features an on-chip temperature sensor as well as ATI’s PowerPlay. PowerPlay provides performance-on-demand features such as dynamic adjustment of voltage, clock gating and memory speed throttling.

Specifications

The Sapphire ATI RADEON HD 3850 AGP has a total of 666 million transistors and is built on a 55 nm fabrication process. The card requires a motherboard with an AGP 4x or 8x slot and a 450-watt or greater power supply.

The graphics card features 512 megabytes of GDDR3 video memory and a 256-bit memory interface. It is HDCP-ready and offers 2 DVI terminals with Dual-Link support and a TV-out (HDTV/S-Video). With the 3850 AGP’s two independent display controllers, the user can have a dual display setup with each monitor having independent settings such as resolution and refresh rates.
