S3 Graphics Chrome 440 GTX 256 MB

4 September 2008
  • Summary: S3 Graphics has done a lot of things right when making their Chrome 440 GTX. The card has DirectX 10.1, PCI-Express 2.0, native HDMI with integrated audio, small form factor and low heat output. Despite all those good things I foresee that the card will have a hard time competing in the market.
  • Pros: Low profile, Low resolution 3D Performance on par with products from ATI and NVIDIA, Low power consumption, Good overclocking potential, Native HDMI output, Not made by evil ATI or NVIDIA, HDMI Audio integrated in GPU, PCI-Express 2.0 support, DirectX 10.1 support
  • Cons: Limited driver/software support, Only supported HD player is WinDVD (no PowerDVD support, yet), A bit on the expensive side, 3D performance very limited, Limited availability, No fan control
