  • Conclusion: We saw the power of the RV570 architecture at a higher echelon when we reviewed boards based around ATI's Radeon X1950 PRO SKU, so seeing this same core brought in as a mid-range challenger to the GeForce 7600 GT's dominance (albeit in a cut-down form) was quite an exciting prospect . All in all, PowerColor's Radeon X1650 XT impresses in a similar fashion to the Radeon X1950 PRO's dominance over NVIDIA's GeForce 7900 GS, although admittedly to a lesser extent overall.

  • Conclusion: It won't be the first or last time that we are mentioning this: ATI's revamp is perhaps a bit too late to change the fortunes of the company. Although its products are finally competitive in performance and price for all except the highest end segment, the changes will have limited impact, given that the present generation of graphics is already in its sunset phase.
