Summary: Purchased as a used unit. Shipped on time with excellent packing. Installation was easy and a quick download of driver package was all it took to have the unit up and running in no time. Quiet and fast rendering video card. Excellent value for me as my computer is now close to 3 years old.
Digital Photographers Graphics Display Card Perfection
1 August 2010
Summary: The Quadro FX 1800 from PNY makes the life of a digital photographer a lot more rewarding. You can rely on color, tone, detail and range in your images to be accurately presented in Photoshop or Lightroom. Link this card to a fine monitor like the Samsung SyncMaster F2380 and you can satisfy the most demanding client. Great value and great performance!
Summary: A Quadro card is the way to go for stuff like video editing, graphics design, cad. Check out the articles by Brick Tech during Sep 2009 (done in 2 parts) where they compared an FX1800 to a GeForce 285. Tom's Hardware has also done comparisons of Quadros to gaming cards. Not saying gaming cards are not good because they are good for what they're designed for just like Quadros are really good at what they're designed for.
Summary: This card replaced an original 3 1/2 year old card that failed. The identical replacement Quadro FX 3500 card from Dell was about $800 and had 250 MB memory. The FX 1800 card was $374 and had 750MB memory with superior performance. Installing drivers was easy and so far the card performs flawlessly.
Summary: this is a huge improvement over my previous video card, i also have the ati radeon hd2600 pro, which is a gaming card. cannot compare rendering in after effects cs4 with the ati compared with the fx1800. ati took me 45 mins to render on a project, did the exact project with the fx1800 and it took 28 seconds to render, also shipping was great, always got good shipping from amazon, well sometimes seems to take a lil longer than the 4 or 5 days standard shipping, but always...
Summary: Excellent piece of kit, providing you DL the right (at time of writing, slightly older) drivers. Speeds through Maya, Photoshop and Zbrush like nobody's business, such a valuable upgrade, even from top of the range consumer graphics. Well chuffed!
