Like Most Mac products don't buy into the hype.

Spencer Thayer, Amazon
5 June 2014
  • Summary: I am unsure this card is worth the cost unless you are earning a profit from graphics generation, otherwise find another graphics card. Pros: - PNY Quadro support is REALLY FRIENDLY! - Best card you can get for a Mac Pro 5,1. - Renders video from After Effects like a champ. - Renders RAW files in Lightroom, DXO Pro like a king. - For professional rendering and graphics intensive features this thing is top of the line for the OSX environment.

Not ready for Dual CPU or PCIe 3.0 systems

D. Drinan, Amazon
1 January 2013
  • Summary: Pros: Great performance. Bashes through rendering at fantastic speed. Cons: Does not work properly with Dual CPU boards - I own the ASUS Z9PE-D8 WS motherboard and the card WILL NOT work in PCIe slot 1. I can not get this thing to work in any slot other than slot 3 (which randomly detects at power on). When it does work (gets past BIOS POST), the card is rock stable, but obviously has issues with being detected by Dual CPU motherboards at a BIOS POST level.

Not ready for Dual CPU or PCIE 3.0 systems

Ralph S., Newegg
13 December 2012
  • Summary: Got a dual socket board? Or PCI 3.0 ports? You should probably wait!
  • Pros: Well the Quadro K5000 is here, and we got this for 2 basic reasons. The first being that it's faster than the Quadro 6000 and half the price. The second, and more important reason was because we wanted to see what all the fuss is about Maximus 2. We originally preordered the Tesla K20, but we canceled our order upon discovering that hardly any production (public released) software has been developed at this stage. We even contacted nVidia to inquire about the plugins ...
  • Cons: Oh boy, where to start?

Problematic

Carlos Mencia, Amazon
21 February 2012
  • Summary: I got this item for a workstation. However it overheated and crashed the machine in the initials. I sent it back to PNY which I must say had very good customer service. However when I received the replacement it did not operate AutoCAD with the performance I got from a generic 3d fx gaming card.

NVIDIA Quadro 5000 by PNY 2GB GDDR5

Energy Architect, Amazon
4 January 2012
  • Summary: Nice looking unit, but it does not do $1,700 worth of work. I think a $700 Nvidia Graphics card would do just a good, as far as anybody could actually detect while rendering, or working in architectural design software. If you are doing video editing, an Nvidia GPU is a must, but try one of the less expensive models.
