Pricey for Performance

Ben Jobe, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: I bought this graphics card to replace my GeForce GTX 680 in my 2010 Mac Pro. I do a lot of video editing and I wanted to reduce my render & compression times. This card is more than 2x the cost of the 680 but it had very similar performance in the areas of rendering & compressing video. I returned it and am still using the 680. I suppose if I were doing a lot of 3D modeling with light ray tracing then I may have noticed a difference between the cards.
  • Pros: Easy To Install, Easy To Use, Good Graphics Quality, Reliable Performance

Like Most Mac products don't buy into the hype.

Spencer Thayer, Amazon
5 June 2014
  • Summary: I am unsure this card is worth the cost unless you are earning a profit from graphics generation, otherwise find another graphics card. Pros: - PNY Quadro support is REALLY FRIENDLY! - Best card you can get for a Mac Pro 5,1. - Renders video from After Effects like a champ. - Renders RAW files in Lightroom, DXO Pro like a king. - For professional rendering and graphics intensive features this thing is top of the line for the OSX environment.

Expensive but effective

C. McCollough, Amazon
13 February 2014
  • Summary: Since new Apple video editing applications no longer support my original ATI 5200 video cards, I had a choice. Upgrade to a new Mac Pro or iMac, or replace my video card with something that is supported. This card is supported by Apple (who will sell it to you for full list price at the Apple store). The card installed easily, and is operating flawlessly with native OSX support. I am driving 3 displays which no problems.

The Quadro K5000 is one of the best graphics cards for workstations

Jose P., Newegg
2 December 2013
  • Summary: The Quadro K5000 is fully compatible with dual processors (Xeon X5600 or Xeon E5 generations) at least motherboard having PCI Express 2.0 x16. In fact, the Quadro cards were designed for dual processor configuration.
  • Pros: The Quadro K5000 is one of the best Workstation GPU on the market , "after the K6000 since then ." You can dramatically increase their performance with a Tesla K20 Maximus 2 configuration. In fact, a Maximus 2 ( Quadro + Tesla K20 K5000 ) configuration is more powerful than a single K6000 card. At least that 's what he told me Quadro technician at a technical consultation on the website of Nvidia.
  • Cons: Nvidia Quadro K5000 only have 90 in Double Precision. But this is solved by adding a Tesla K20.

A Powerful Card for professional use and quite cheap on Ebay ;)

douceurthai, Ebay
22 October 2013
  • Summary: I was in need of a professional Graphic Card for a longtime and the HP Quadro 5000 with 2.5GB ECC Memory was exactly in my budget (515 USD - 600 USD shipping included ) , I use it mostly for OpenGL rendering in video Editing with Premiere Pro CC and using Red Giant plugins. I'm very satisfied by the Realtime Rendering. As this card is quite powerful (still outperform the new Quadro K4000), I've decided to start learning Maya to take full benefit of it.

Excellent powerfull card

Turco, B&H Photo
15 October 2013
  • Excerpt: I´m a 3ds Max designer and this is the best card for this software. Real time rendering using the CUDA cores is just great, this item has all the horsepower you need to save time in real time rendering with your favourite render engine (very large and heavy scenes). I also use a Firepro Mid-range card but there´s no comparison with Nvidia CUDA core power. If you are a max user, go for this Quadro... is money very well spent.

Amazing Cards! No need for external power supplies!!!!

Marty Spain, Amazon
7 October 2013
  • Summary: I have two (2) of the k5000s in my Mac Pro (Mid 2012) and they are amazing. They are powered by the internal power supply and worked directly out of the box. The performance is amazing and crushes the Radeon HD 7870 (6 mini display ports) graphics card i was using (it required an external power supply). The K5000 is a great card and i highly recommend it. I use it to power six (6) 27 inch displays on my desk.

Great video card for Mac

Brian Rounds, B&H Photo
1 October 2013
  • Excerpt: I had a nVidia Quadro 4000 for a couple of years and the new K5000 blew it out of the water in every way. The K5000 worked flawlessly out of the box and into my Mac Pro. I use SSD in my Mac Pro with 64 gigs of ram - powering 2 27 inch screens and running Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects. The acceleration in those programs were very noticeable. My render times were cut in half and then some. This was a great upgrade and purchase.
