The Quadro K5000 is one of the best graphics cards for workstations
2 weeks ago
Pros: The Quadro K5000 is one of the best Workstation GPU on the market , "after the K6000 since then ." You can dramatically increase their performance with a Tesla K20 Maximus 2 configuration. In fact, a Maximus 2 ( Quadro + Tesla K20 K5000 ) configuration is more powerful than a single K6000 card. At least that 's what he told me Quadro technician at a technical consultation on the website of Nvidia.
Cons: Nvidia Quadro K5000 only have 90 in Double Precision. But this is solved by adding a Tesla K20.
Amazing Cards! No need for external power supplies!!!!

Summary: I have two (2) of the k5000s in my Mac Pro (Mid 2012) and they are amazing. They are powered by the internal power supply and worked directly out of the box. The performance is amazing and crushes the Radeon HD 7870 (6 mini display ports) graphics card i was using (it required an external power supply). The K5000 is a great card and i highly recommend it. I use it to power six (6) 27 inch displays on my desk.
Summary: I do design drafting at home using AutoCAD and Solid Works. Over the years these programs got bigger and bigger. To be able to keep up with this I decided to build my own PCs (more bang for the buck). This is my first Intel built. My old ones were all AMD's (less expensive). Using my 3-D programs with this card is just beautiful. I have two 30 inch monitor hooked up to the card and everything works great.
Summary: The box was missing one Display Port to DVI adapter, but a quick call to PNY and a new one was overnight shipped free of charge.
Pros: High Def Quad monitor - I personally have it running 3X 24 inch wide screens and 1X 27 inch widescreen.
Cons: Would not pass POST initially. After trying to move to a different slot with no success, I ended up removing it, updating and patching the BIOS then reinstalling. Now it loads first time ever time in ASUS Z9PE-D8WS. Check and update your BIOS first using the on-board video, then try installing the card. Not the video cards fault, just the BIOS did not support it yet due in part to it's change in architecture.
Summary: This card plows through large models and makes hardware-assisted real-time editing a breeze, even with several HD timelines and multiple effects in play. This Kepler adapter is 20 percent faster than the previous Quadro 5000 Fermi card, and it is 20 percent more power efficient. Simply excellent! I have experienced zero operational issues.
