Excerpt: The 8400GS may be showing its age now, but that perhaps works in its favour - it is very cheap to buy now, and for a beginner looking for a quick and effective upgrade to their system, this is a great choice. As with any graphics card, physical installation is fairly simple - just open up your desktop, plug it in, and providing the correct drivers have been installed beforehand, it should start working immediately - I had no problems when installing mine.
Excerpt: "I am using a NVIDIA Geforce 8400GS in my system, and thats awesome. It gives a good acceleration for my games and other Graphics demanding softwares. For example when I use a software named Stellarium which is a astronomical software that displays current star locations, without the drivers installed , there is a very poor performance. But after installation of the Graphics drivers the software runs well. It is nice in Windows 7, but even then my ...
Pros: Excellent for most of the games, 3D vision available
Cons: Not sufficient for heavy Gamers, Not sufficient for Windows 7 aero (but thats not a big problem)
Buy this if you want a cheap method of out putting High Resolution display for Video.

Excerpt: I recently purchased this Graphics Card for next to nothing from eBay; it was £12.99 which seemed like incredible value for such a card. It is a modern specification card, designed for the latest generation of Windows Operating system (Vista and 7) but I use the card with the trusty Windows XP. The card installs in the PCI-E x1 slot, not the x16 slot as others have mentioned.
A good card to buy if your saving for something better, a stop-gap gfx solution.

Excerpt: The nVidia GeForce 8400 GS is a great little entry level card. Though it has been passed by two full generations of newer cards that fill the same entry level requirements (Ati 4450, 5450 and the GeForce 9400, 220 and low end 400 series). This card is still relatively competitively priced if all you want to do is play movies and enjoy some older games.
A nice and cheap graphics card, should be enough to play your average game.

Excerpt: I bought this graphics card last year to replace an old one that came with my PC. Its not the newest or most powerful graphics card around but it does its job. Brand new games that are coming out now (Q3 2010) are too powerful for it to run, but games released in early 2010 and before should run on this graphics card, if you tweak the settings.
Definetley worth unless your planning on buying very high powered games.

Excerpt: Although the graphics card is officially a 256MB, my computer and games that I use all read it as a 512mb graphics card, so im not quite sure what it is, although i'm happy at viewing it as a 512mb. The graphics card runs on DDR2 RAM. For a start the graphics card is nice and cheap, will probably cost you £25-£30 if you look around on the web, well worth it considering how well it will run most games, only the most recent games will have trouble running.
Excerpt: "...a reasonable price then the NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS is a good choice. these cards can be overclocked. My cards stock performance: GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) runs at 460 MHZ (Mega Hertz) DDR2 memory speed is 350 MHZ Shader Clock 1112 MHZ I have overclocked it without buying extra cooling hardware to more than what is normal and it still runs like a dream. when I first started playing Grand Theft Auto IV I would get 13.7 frames per second. Considering ...
Pros: Can be overclocked, great for 3D design and HD ready hardware .
Excerpt: "...what you want from it, nvidia offers a wide range, from the top of the market to its cheaper options like this one. And if you are looking for a cheap graphics cards to run some games that use DirectX9 look no further. If you want to play HD games such as call of duty 4 and GTA 4 then i reccomend going for the 6500gt or even the 295FX for top gaming. The card is easy to install with Nividia great customer support if you need help, becuase your buying ...
