Summary: First of all the card amazon sent me was supposed to be "new", but when it arrived it had clearly been open before and the heatsinks had dust in them. THIS WAS CLEARLY A USED CARD. When i first got it I had issues getting this card to work with my HIS 7970 in crossfire and I didn't know which card to blame.
Summary: i love it my 7970 lightning, it literally destroy every actual game with all in max res. the only cons. it has no hdmi, but isn't really a big deal with the adaptor included or equal with the display port cable... really want to see more of these sold by amazon, so i can get one more for my crossfire...
Summary: Be advised it does not support 120hz off of dvi(doesn't come with dual link dvi) You'll need a third party link to connect a 120hz monitor. Everything else works perfectly good. Pair it to a Samsung 27sa950d.
Summary: PROS: PERFORMANCE: First thing to point out: at the time of writing, this is the single fastest 7970 available in the USA. The heatsink design is superb. It is extremely simple to overclock, including voltage control. The "GPU Reactor", as MSI calls it, is a tiny daughter board with additional power phases: more phases in your power conversion results in a more consistent voltage supplied to your GPU core, which in turn means more stability while overclocking.
Summary: Got this to replace an MSI R6970 Lightning which has a Dual Link DVI capable of pushing 2560x1600. For some reason they only put 2 single link dvi connectors on the R7970 Lightning. In short, if your monitor is 2560x1600 and takes DVI you might not want this card. Although, I'll work around that as my experience with the previous model tells me the card will be fast.
Things to know If you run multiple monitors / DVI / multiple videos

Summary: The card has a good sturdy construction feel to it. At the beginning I thought the card was defective, however, as it turns out it was not the cards' fault so here are the solutions: - If you run a DVI monitor at 1920x1200 (max single link DVI resolution) using single-link DVI cable you may experience corruption, blinking, and other strange things. I have no explanation as to why (my single link cable has been working fine at this resolution with this monitor for years).
Summary: This is a well built card made for the enthusiast. Cost a bit more but I got my card to overclock to 1260mhz and demolishes games at 1440p. One thing I did not like is the card is very wide and I had to remove the GPU Reactor Cover(not the reactor itself) to install the card. So far very pleased with my purchase and plan to stick with MSI from now on.
