Summary: maybe i got a bad one, but mine overheated and overclocked poorly. i payed a huge premium for this card because of the potential overclock but what i should have done is bought two cheaper cards instead
Summary: Runs very hot. Had some stability issues before I figured that out. Runs about as fast as a GTX 570. I like the non-reference fans although they get loud at 80-100%. Very long cards at 12" so they can only go into full towers and some mid-tower cases. I bought this to complete my Bulldozer Scorpius build, plus I liked the look of the product. Plus has advanced features for voltage monitoring for further overclocking over its already 40Mhz gain over stock.
Summary: Could not get this card to work properly. Sent this back the day after I got it. Tried to run Hitman:Assanation and other new games but would not last for more than 8 minutes of gameplay. Any increase in frequency would cut the card off and restart the driver. The only reason I didn't give this 1 star is because I'm sure the "good ones" work, but obviously there are "bad ones". DO YOUR RESEARCH before buying.
Summary: It arrived sooner than expected and was well packaged. I plugged it into the top slot in crossfire and fired it up, only to see the temps go to 105 C! I voided the warranty and took it apart. It is held together by only 4 teeny tiny screws that were not very tight. There was too much thermal paste and it was a very thin and soft type too. I applied new paste and tightened those screws down and it now runs in the 85-90 C range under full load.
Summary: I bought this card last month and have been using it almost daily. Unfortunately, the card runs pretty hot. If you don't have several fans in your case, this is probably going to cause you some problems. Proper airflow aside, the card itself is amazing. Like another user said, it is a whopping 12 inches, which means most small and even some medium cases aren't going to cut it. If you have the cooling for it and the case, it's a wonderful thing.
Summary: I got the R5970 lightning II first, it was great and i loved it! but then a year later this BFG came out, and what a BFG! this thing is like... im actually not sure but def. over a foot long. Honestly i tried to fit it in my antec 900 mid ATX but ... nope i ended up having to move around my hard drive to get it in... did i mid this? Nah, iv mod'ed this PC out so much it dosen't even phase me. Soo whats bad about this product... performance wise.
Summary: Great card. I upgraded from an AMD 5870 and I am seeing about a 20-30% increase in speed in almost every single game! It's quiet at idle which is a huuuuge plus for me. It's also very quiet while watching a Blu-ray(2-10% GPU usage during playback). The only thing bad about this card is the size. It's 12" long so it won't fit in smallish cases very easily. I had to take some tin snips to my 3.5" bays to make some room for the card.
Summary: I returned my Asus HD 6970 Direct CU II and got 2 of these bad boys, and set them up in crossfire. Man oh man was I glad I made this decision. The performance boost is phenomenal. I got double frame rates in most of the games. The cards run super smooth and cool. The top card idles around 45 and full load at 75, while bottom card idles around 35 and full load at 75.
