Refurbished?

Gergely B., Newegg
5 May 2012
  • Pros: Good Card, Nice Cooler! Plays Many Games at High Settings! NewEgg Excellent as Always.
  • Cons: Well First, The Fan Will Let The Card Smoke! If Not Adjusted Manually! Guss They Want to Force People to Use MSI Afterburner! How Hard Can it Be to Let Us Write Are Own Fan Profiles and Flash it in to the Card? The Back of The Card Seems Scratched also the Fans Like Almost if it Where Refurbished...

Game code no bueno

Rhonda M., Newegg
25 April 2012
  • Summary: 5 eggs for MSI HD6870 1 egg for Dirt3 code - only because I would HAVE to at least give one egg to review
  • Pros: Second purchase of this make/model GPU. First one works so well I'm going to crossfire it and shoot for the stars.
  • Cons: Dirt3 code invalid. Sent emails to concerned parties. Known issue and shouldn't advertise and offer if it's such a problem to redeem code.

  • Summary: Active display adapter http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814999034 Three + monitors of the same resolution This Card 650+watt PSU All you need for Eyefinity greatness
  • Pros: Use a 2Gb HD5870 Eyefinity 6 edition card on my rig at home - I assumed this 1Gb HD6870 would be a lesser card but it might even be better. Core and mem clocks are high on stock settings and much room for OCing - Eyefinity + Steam on work PC might not have been the brightest productivity idea, bu...

19ºC cooler than reference card? Nope

David Y., Newegg
9 April 2012
  • Summary: I paid the $20 dollar premium over other brands because I was building a quiet and efficient single card gaming PC. The idle temps are fine (41ºC) but this card puts out way too much heat on load. Setting an aggressive fan curve is not a solution if noise is a concern.
  • Pros: The dual fans are quiet below 40% No rebate issues
  • Cons: The card I received does not perform as advertised. The GPU temperature will reach up to 93ºC when gaming.

  • Summary: If you are having drver resets or black screens your voltage is probably too low for your clock speed. I needed about 1.2 to be stable at 1000MHtz.
  • Pros: Great card, got two of these in crossfire. Easily overclocked to 1000MHtz with a lil xtra voltage. Cards run very cool for how little ventilation room they have in crossfire. Cards rarely ever breaks 60C under full load and 30C ambient.
  • Cons: Have not found anything as of yet.

  • Summary: I bought this card last year around this time to replace my Best Data Radeon HD 5770 that died (I couldn't game or benchmark but I could do everything else with it still so it was probably "semi-dead").
  • Pros: - Runs fairly cool all-season long (I live in California and have a Cooler Master HAF 932). Idle and non-gaming temps in the 30s (and low 40s after gaming/benchmarking) and gaming/benchmark temps are in the 60s to low-70s (the GPU stayed in the 60s when I played Borderlands while benchmarking and...
  • Cons: None I can think of except maybe 20 mhz core clock OC from the factory doesn't amount to much and begs for a higher OC.

Works like a charm

Anonymous, Newegg
22 March 2012
  • Summary: I am not an enthusiast gamer yet and this card has had no issues thus far. I haven't stressed the card out yet. I am still thinking between grabbing another 6870 or just upgrading to the 28 nm cards. I also wanted to state I am not buying any video cards just for some youtube benchmarking.
  • Pros: It does what it is supposed to do. Runs games on eyefinity just fine. Ran a few games on a 55' LED TV at 240 Hz and a 47' LED LCD at 120 Hz. All the modern games that were ran on ultra settings ran beautifully with out a hiccup.
  • Cons: The heat sinks are assembled kind of oddly, thus there is a lot of ventilation for dust particles to get into this card. I use compressed air to clean the card of dust on a regular basis.

Already was great, crossfire is better.

Jonathan D., Newegg
9 March 2012
  • Summary: Make sure your PSU is big enough, even for just one. You don't want anything less than a 650-watt PSU for this puppy or 800-watt for two assuming you have a CPU that can get a little power hungry. MSI has always made quality hardware, I've never been disappointed with them.
  • Pros: The 6870 was already a very reasonable chip for the price. I bought this to do crossfire with the reference one I already owned and does it deliver! Very quiet for what it is capable of. Overclockable, 1ghz on the core no problem with a little extra voltage. TwinFrozr is leaps and bounds cooler r...
