Excerpt: The MSI GeForce FX5200 TDR128 A Budget Card with a Little Extra By: Jeff Bouton June 3rd, 2003 If there is one thing that is certain, it's that there is no other channel of the PC hardware industry more heated in competition and embroiled in controversy than the graphics sector. This is a fierce market consumed with debates over whose video card is on top.
Conclusion: We really like the T.O.P. Tech Cooling II implementation on the MSI FX5200-TDR128, but since this is the first GeForce FX 5200 card we’ve tested, we really can’t comment on how effective it is in comparison to the competition. We know that it kept our card cool under all conditions (something we can’t say for the GeForce FX 5200 Ultra’s cooler), but since our overclocking endeavors were rather limited we didn’t really push the capabilities of the cooler.
Conclusion: For those who were unaware of the GeForce FX 5200 product positioning, we hope this review has enlightened you as many end-users initially thought it was a low cost but high performance product. Product naming and numbering can be very misleading and it was exactly the case with the GeForce FX 5200, whose product number is larger than the older products in the 4xxx series.
