Summary: Card started overheating about a year after buying this card. Ended up thinking it may have been a hard drive problem or software problem for nearly a month before figuring out it was just that this card was overheating, and there isn't an option I can find to do anything about overclocking the fan to help at all. So I'd suggest just no getting this card because it's pretty likely it's going to burn out if you try using it for much of anything.
Summary: This card might keep your AGP running but don't expect to play. No COD4, Ghost Advanced 2, Splinter Cell DA, ect. downright unplayable. Fan died and card burnt in 6 months, nice. Replaced with ice4670, the ice is just as bad, horrible, choppy, freezing display. Card was outperformed by my tweaked x1950, absolutely no comparison to the HD3850, it runs about like a early x800. Pretty lame these days. HD650watt, 50A single rail. P4 Hyper-Threader 3.06G, 2048 mem.
Summary: I was excited about getting this card, then when it arrived, I found out how disappointed I could be. I could not get my system to work properly with it, and after repeated (3 times!) attempts to contact customer service there was no response of any type. Even though I left detailed descriptions of my system and the problems I was having with the available driver, it seemed HIS and ATI couldn't care less.
Incompatibility with Windows XP, SP3 for Dell Dimension 4600
Matt and Mandy, Amazon
1 November 2010
Summary: I had to return this card. I bought this video card because it looked like it would suit my needs of watching video on my HDTV. I have a Dell Dimension 4600, and it has Windows XP, SP3 on it. After installing the card, I got the video to work, but my version of Windows XP would not recognize the sound card. I called HIS Digital, which transferred me to ATI. Anyway, they had me install updated drivers from ATI and Realtek to no effect.
Ineffective thermal management for even lightweight gaming
27 July 2010
Summary: Put simply, the thing melted. I use this card on my primary desktop, which is about 60% casual web surfing, 20% HD video watching, and 20% gaming. I wanted a fanless card to cut down on system noise (3 80mm case fans are plenty loud enough). Understand that I am by no means a hardcore gamer; we're talking Counterstrike:Source and ET:RTCW, and maybe an occasional Unreal Tournament 3 bout.
