HIS Radeon HD 6790 IceQ X Turbo 1 GB

20 May 2011
  • Summary: The HIS Radeon HD 6790 IceQ X Turbo is a well-improved version of the AMD reference design. Thanks to the new IceQ X cooler, the card runs at impressive temperature levels, which also have a positive effect on the card's power consumption. Despite the improved cooler and the reduced temperatures, the card emits roughly the same noise levels as the AMD reference design - I had expected better.
  • Pros: Overclocked out of the box, Low power consumption, Good overclocking potential, Low temperatures, Software voltage control, Native full-size HDMI output, Support for voltage control, Support for DirectX 11
  • Cons: Fan could be quieter, High power draw in Blu-ray, Second DVI connector only single-link, No support for CUDA / PhysX

  • Excerpt: Just before the launch of the HD 6790, HIS emailed us and asked if we wanted to get a sample of the normal version, or if we were happy to wait a couple of extra weeks for the IceQ X Turbo one.
