Amazing AGP video card!! (Gigabyte)

Anonymous, Newegg
24 November 2011
  • Summary: Listen, considering the current money sitaution this thing was a blessing in disguise. Runs cool, awesome detail in games, etc. As a matter of fact, detail I've not seen before!! If you need an AGP8X card this is it! You'll be nickel and diming yourself to death trying others.....TRUST ME!!
  • Pros: I'm running a Dell Dimension 4600 and budget didn't include me getting a new tower any time soon! For thise in the same boat as me this card is a gem!! Easiest install I've done in a long time! Believe it or not, I used the driver CD that came with it despite popular opinion! It's golden! I was a...
  • Cons: The only beef I have here was the power cable department. The description claims a six pin deal when it was actually the usual four pin power port. IT DIDN'T INCLUDE A CABLE! Order an extension if you think your existing will be too short!!!! It's three bucks extra, get it! They don't include any...

AGP, yep they still make it

AF, Amazon
21 November 2011
  • Summary: I tuned my old XP box into a HTPC so i needed an AGP card with HDMI output and I was relieved this card was around. For the price you can get two or three PCIe cards but you get what you pay for and this is a great card.

REAL NICE UPGRADE!

Kevin B., Newegg
26 October 2011
  • Summary: Hope it lasts!
  • Pros: Wow what a difference from a Radeon X1600! My old AGP never looked so good. It plays the older stuff very smooth. Price was pretty good at 75 bucks, well worth the improved performance. Very quiet as well. This will hold me off for a while until I can save for a new computer to play BF3 and MW3. ...
  • Cons: I knew going in that I would have to find an updated driver and it was kind of a hassle finding the correct one. Installed the latest catalyst 11.9 from AMD's site and it did not take. Tried 10.1 and other "legacy" drivers and they made the system jumpy. Finally after about 2 hours I found a hotf...

Drivers

DECLINED D., Newegg
5 October 2011
  • Summary: For those complaining about drivers, a person who builds should know that the drivers on the CD are not to be used as they are outdated. The ATI website has some great AGP hotfixes to work on this card.
  • Pros: Great card for my ancient system. This probably maxed out my upgrade for this Pentium 4 system. Even though I run AGP 4x, it still gave a significant boost to rendering. The high memory size is also a plus, I can work with high-resolution textures and images with no problem.
  • Cons: Somewhat flimsy fan build and the card isn't built to draw the hot air outside the back PCI ports, but it shouldn't be a problem for people who have an adequate case with great cooling. The fan is also detachable so you replace it at your whim.

Nice Card

Marina O., Newegg
6 September 2011
  • Pros: easy install, drivers worked fine for me on win 7. video looks great on a 6 year old rig, and hd audio works just fine.
  • Cons: couldn't get all my old sound drivers removed properly and had to reinstall the OS. Wasn't really a big deal for me though and the card worked great once i reinstalled.
