Conclusion: Benchmarking with a variety of modern games has revealed a truth; for single-monitor gaming with a GeForce GTX 580, 3GB of GDDR5 memory is overkill. At resolutions of up to 2,560x1,600 with ultra-high image quality settings, it's tough to distinguish between a stock-clocked GTX 580 armed with a 1.5GB or a 3GB frame buffer - both deliver near-identical performance across a range of current games. A pointless product, then? Not quite.
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 580 Super Overclock graphics card review
27 April 2011
Conclusion: Gigabyte has produced yet another impressive addition to its award-winning Super Overclock range. The GTX 580 SOC is without a doubt the fastest single-GPU solution in our high-end line up, and the card's substantial out-the-box performance is supplemented by plenty of additional overclocking headroom. A new revision of the excellent WindForce 3X cooler keeps the cherry-picked GPU remarkably cool under load, and its trio of fans are suitably quiet, too.
