Gainward GTX470 GS and reference GTX470 review

26 July 2010
  • Conclusion: As we can see, the difference between the cards is only a few percent. Everything that can be said for the 470 applies to 470 GS as well. It's faster than 5850 at its most comfortable resolution, but even the overclocked GS can't get near the GTX 480. Tesselation benchmarks are where the new architecture really shines. The only thing you should keep the 470 out of is the 25x16 resolution, as its "only" 56 TMUs get overwhelmed pretty quickly.

You’ll notice that Gainward changed the color scheme, and we must admit that the new scheme is much more discrete (pun not intended) and better. Naturally, with both cards running at reference clocks, the results are almost identical to Nvidia’s reference cards.

  • Excerpt: It's been a while since we've seen anything from Gainward and the main reason for that is it had been a while since we'd seen anything from NVIDIA. Now that NVIDIA have some new models and companies have had the chance to attack them with some new cooling and what not, it's time to see what some of the NVIDIA only partners are capable of.
