Summary: I built my system last summer (2013) and added a second GTX 680 a few months later. The SLI 680 setup will beat out just about every single GPU currently on the market - if you can find them (it's a shame that nobody has them anymore new). My current system: ASRock Z77 EXTREME6 Xeon E3-1240V2 GTX 680 (x2) G.Skill 16GB DDR3 1866 Samsung 840 Pro Series 128GB Respectable for a year old sytem, and still runs BF4 High/Ultra 16x MSAA HBAO at 100-120 fps (1920x1080).
Summary: Excellent upgrade to my early 2009 Mac Pro. The card arrived early, and the installation was relatively simple. No drama with startup, as well as with driver download and installation on my boot camped partition.
Excerpt: It's only been installed a week, but I can compare this GTX680 ot the GTX285 it replaced and I can say there is a speed improvement in Premiere Pro. Running 10.9.2 and installation was a snap. Just remember to download and install the CUDA driver first. Note on EVGA - these folks are definitely not supportive of non-gaming Mac professionals so rely on the good folks at B&H for guidance and the many forums for information.
Pros: Easy To Install, Easy To Use, Good Graphics Quality, Reliable Performance
Excerpt: Within 2 weeks of purchase, the card died. Paid $20 to ship back to manufacturer only to get a new card that crashes once a day, has a weird problem that has the image moved about one centimeter to the left in one monitor, and that outputs videos with image artifacts or glitches in it. After having both this card and the Nvidia Quadro 4000 for Mac, I must say if you are a video production professional save yourself a lot of time by just going with the Quadro 4000.
Summary: The best video card I have every owned. Matched it as the prime card in a SLI config with a superclocked MSI 680. I get steady 59 FPS at ultimate video setting on BF4 without overclocking. It is limited because of my monitor 59hz refresh rate.
Excerpt: You'll need OSX 10.8 or higher to run it, but it's a small price to pay if you haven't upgraded your OS. Everything is faster. Renders are faster. Playback in editing programs like Final Cut Pro and Premiere is faster. Cinema 4d renders are literally cut in half.
