A solid mid/low range replacement video card at a great price

Doug Danzeisen "frankfan42", Amazon
25 March 2015
  • Summary: At this price point one is not getting bleeding edge technology, or memory capacity. Onboard video died and tried another passive cooling solution that was DOA. I ordered this, as past products from EVGA that I have purchased- power supplies, etc., worked fine.

Good for the price

Stephen H., Newegg
7 March 2015
  • Summary: If you want to use the Vista drivers for 8 then you cannot use the GUI to do it. Go into the directory folder and find the Vista driver and install that way.
  • Pros: I ordered this for one of my desktops that I just installed an SSD drive and upgraded to Windows 8.1 It works great. Excellent graphics for the money. I am not a gamer and do not know how it would perform under those strains. But video and all else is great. Giving it 4 eggs because the Windows 8...

Stewart P., Newegg
5 March 2015
  • Pros: easy to install
  • Cons: Just got off phone with EVGA Tech support. After reading all the reviews here I bought this card to replace onboard video, bad move. The tech told me to download a program that cleans out all video drivers both the onboard intel and the drivers for the NVidia card, which I did, bad move my displa...

EVGA GeForce 8400GS

Stewart P., Newegg
4 March 2015
  • Summary: I've checked with NVidia concerning the compatibility of Battlefield Bad Company 2, it' passed. Then I checked my computer build, it surpassed all requirements of NVidia.
  • Pros: Looks good, easy to install .. but
  • Cons: It seems this card isn't the only GeForce card with this black screen problem according to all the forums I've read. I've spent most of the afternoon trying fixes I've found, the only one that works is changing the DXVersion from auto to 9 in the game settings. this allows me to play but I loose ...

EVGA GeForce 8400GS

Stewart P., Newegg
4 March 2015
  • Pros: It's quiet, easy to install
  • Cons: Won't play the game I bought it for, Battlefield Bad Company 2. It loads the main screen but when the game logs on to a game server I get a black screen. Tried it on War Craft, same problem.

great product

stephanie, Amazon
2 March 2015
  • Summary: I bought this because my boyfriend wanted to stream World Of Warcraft play. Oh what a difference. The colors display so beautiful. You can really tell the difference it's not a subtle change. I suggest upgrading other parts of the computer depending on what you want this card for.

Big bang...little bucks

Toby H., Newegg
24 February 2015
  • Summary: If you want more than what this card offers you have to pay more $$...people who have complained about it not having this or not having that aren't considering its a $30 card. Sure its not the goto card for highend gaming, nor is the card for complicated 3d modeling work environments, but for the...
  • Pros: First off, its easy on the wallet, and secondly it performs considerably better than you would expect. Fan isn't loud, installation was a breeze, takes up minimal space for a Graphics card. What more could you want for the $30 range? If you have an outdated PC and you want to upgrade your video, ...
  • Cons: Haven't found any so far. I know its not a $500 card so I don't expect it to behave like one.
