The Diamond 4870 1gig Video card is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a high end graphics card, it performs well in both DX9 and DX10 on the latest games with no problems at all. Yes it can get loud when under load, but it’s relative to what sound level you personally can stand coming from your system, really it’s not that loud at all. Read more

    • Well made, Excellent performance in DX9 and DX10 games overall, Works well under stress, Adapters included
    • Can get rather loud when under load, Takes two slots, Takes two PCIE power connections

Sporting the extra-large framebuffer erases the niggling doubts I had concerning the 4870 I played with at its release. This is an excellent single-GPU card and it's priced very well. If you're an AMD or ATI fan, this is the card to get--assuming you've only got this much money and a single PCI-Express slot. Ironically, It doesn't present the same value as other ATI cards, and its greatest competition comes not from NVIDIA but actually other 4800-series hardware. Read more

    • Great price, Well-rounded performance, CrossFireX potential
    • GTX 260 and up are still very competitive, Slightly less power-efficient than NVIDIA contemporaries

I had problems with this from the beginning. I am running a Corsair 750 W PS, so I am definitely not underpowered, but I still had issues with this thing not booting up, and I would have to restart the system 2-3 times before it would boot up. Problem gradually got worse and worse, and now it will not boot at all. Their support is worthless. I put in a support ticket and no action was taken on it by them for almost 2 months. Fighting to get an RMA now. Read more
