480p youtube in small/medium box at best, Educational games play fine.

  • Summary: Enough to be 480p on Youtube in a window not much else. Help's overcome integrated graphics limitations of, P4/Athlon64 era machines with just standard PCI slots and no AGP or PCIX. Better than integrated but not fully up to snuff for a long term solution. Will play smaller educational games for kido's.

  • Summary: I purchased this to upgrade an old Gateway machine w/ a 1.6GHz processor and 500MB memory so I could use a 21" monitor. Before installing, I got the Catalyst/driver package from the AMD web site. I installed the card, booted up, installed the drivers, and was off and running with a great display. I use this computer in my woodworking shop and it now serves me well.

Good graphic card for obsolete computers.

evolucion888, Ebay
18 November 2010
  • Summary: It's a card based on the original Radeon 8500 launched on 2001. Supports DirectX 8.1 with Pixel Shader 1.4 and Vertex Shaders 1.1. The main difference between the 8500 and 9250 is the lower clock speed of the latter and the missing Texture Units. The Radeon 8500 is a 4 pixel pipeline design with 2 texture units on each one, the Radeon 9250 is a 4 pixel pipeline design with only 1 texture unit on each one.
