Driver problems abound

Arizala, Amazon
29 June 2014
  • Summary: The driver keeps acting up and the video display goes blank. Customer support has been great, but it still functions highly erratic. I dread every update to the driver, but I install them hoping that it resolves the problem. Would not buy again.

quiet, cheap, runs four monitors

31 March 2014
  • Excerpt: Need a rather big enclosure for the heat pipes, which makes it quiet Takes up two slots, blocks a pcie slot on my mobo : ( Runs four monitors, but the oc software puts a little black rectangle on the desktop of monitor 3 and I can't get rid of it. eh. Don't use it for gaming or video, so can't comment on that. Otherwise, sharp picture and bright colors. yay.

We have two of these video cards in two PCs.

Loren, Amazon
26 February 2014
  • Summary: The main reason for buying this card is the huge heat sink and no fan. I have thrown away too many video cards because the fans started to scream. Some of the replacement fans cost as much as the card did. My wife does machine embroidery and wanted a better display for her new PC. I used the GT-640 ASUS card driving a 23 inch LG IPS monitor through an HDMI cable. She is most delighted with the clarity and detail.

No Fan

RT147,, TigerDirect.com
1 January 2014
  • Summary: If you want a video card with no fan this is a good choice. I chose this because I am looking for a quiet computer and did not want the fan. No problems. Installed and worked as expected.

Great card ... when it works.

Jag U. Ar, Amazon
20 December 2013
  • Summary: This card is truly silent with no coil whine and handles multiple monitors with no problems. I had it driving 1 @ 2560 x 1600 and 2 @ 1600 x 1200. After 2 months, though, I started getting terrible artifacts. Asus RMA'ed the card quickly and without any drama so we'll see how the refurb works out.

Completely silent, and Mac compatible!

GoodFlow, Amazon

  • Summary: This is a very underrated card that offers a lot of bang for your buck. I ran mine for about a year in a PC build that I put together for my music studio. Silence was an absolute requirement, and this was about the highest-performing passively-cooled card I could find. Playing games it can get up to ~60 C if you don't turn your case fan on, but for general use this thing stays down below 40.
