A New Card in an Outdated Market

Amazon Customer, Amazon
18 October 2010
  • Summary: I came from an ATI Radeon HD 4870. What I noticed that changed was that I can max out AA to 32x QSAA. What I didn't notice was EVERYTHING ELSE. The graphics quality are the same with a higher FPS when playing "maxed out"--but I get the same FPS, on my old card, by turning off Anti Aliasing. DirectX 11? Throw that crazy idea out the window. DX11 does not add anything significant.

A solid performer.

Count Catula, Amazon
30 June 2010
  • Summary: Setup: The Asus GTX 480 went into an Antec 300 (3 case fans - 2*120mm on back, side and 1*140mm fan on top) containing an Asus m3n72-d motherboard, a quadcore AMD Phenom processor, 4GB of 1066MHz DDR2 and a Corsair 650 power supply. The card replaced a GTX280 and is powering a Samsung 2333SW monitor at 1920x1080 and the OS is Windows 7 Ultimate. Packaging: The Asus packaging looked professional and really solid.
