Asus EN8800GT/G/HTDP/512M

The Asus EN8800GT/G/HTDP/512M is a graphics card based on the Nvidia GeForce 8800GT Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) reference design. It is Certified for Windows Vista and features support for Microsoft DirectX 10, Shader Model 4.0 as well as OpenGL 2.0.

Features

The EN8800GT, with its support for Nvidia’s Scalable Link Interface (SLI) technology, can be used in a multi-GPU computer setup. Other Nvidia innovations featured on the EN8800GT include PureVideo HD and Quantum technologies. The former is Nvidia’s new video processor architecture that offloads the High Definition video decoding process from the CPU to the GPU. This results in improved HD performance as well as a 30% reduction in CPU load. The latter features advanced shader processors made especially for physics computations.

Asus also includes its Gamer OSD, Smart Doctor and Video Security Online innovations. Gamer OSD allows the user to overclock, benchmark and capture video even while inside a video game. Smart Doctor also offers an overclocking tool and provides intelligent hardware protection. Lastly, Video Security Online enables the user to keep an eye on his home through the Internet.

Specifications

The graphics card, which features Asus’ Glaciator Fansink, measures 4.38 x 9 inches and connects to motherboards via the PCI Express 2.0 x16 interface. It features 512 megabytes of GDDR3 video memory and a 256 bit memory interface.

The HDCP-compliant EN8800GT offers 2 DVI-I outputs as well as an HDTV/S-Video out. With Dual-Link DVI support, the user can drive a flat-panel display at up to a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels.
