ASUS EAH3850

Jeremy A., Newegg
1 May 2008
  • Summary: If your looking to build a half way decent system with a limited budget then I would suggest this card. If you have a motherboard that supports 2.0 crossfire then buy 2. Nothing has slowed this card down yet, even my CAD and rendering programs.
  • Pros: I have two words to describe this card....FREAKIN' AWESOME!! It may not have a lot of memory but I have not found a game yet that will slow this card down. In fact I am buying another one here soon to take advantage of my 2.0 capabilities. Great value and cool game that came with it.
  • Cons: None at all.

Solid

arthur m., Newegg
4 February 2008
  • Summary: If you're on a budget and trying to build a gaming system this is a good buy. I built this system for a friend and he had limits. ASUS is the only way to go for motherboards and Video Cards. There Software is by far the best.
  • Pros: ASUS Software is the best! Solid Performer can handle anything I've thrown at it. Temps are good once have the fan speed adjusted. Price is very good
  • Cons: Isn't really comparable to its big brother the 3870 but you pay a much bigger bill.

Excellent value

Michael G., Newegg
25 January 2008
  • Summary: No games have run slowly, although a few have dipped into the 30-40 range at 1680x1050 w/ a lot of stuff turned up. I would look towards the 512mb version if you are running anything higher rez.
  • Pros: DX 10+ ready. Includes a game. Asus OSD app lets you overclock on the fly (haven't tried), adjust fan speed, gamma, and most importantly... record/stream video and/or screenshots (like FRAPS). Runs great and pretty quiet at 1680x1050. Benchmarks about 3.5x faster than my old X800 (also made by AT...
  • Cons: Can get loud under a real heavy load (2 games so far). Have to continue using Asus drivers, not ATI ones, if you want to keep using the OSD. Card is a little long, but fit fine in my coolmaster 330.

Not bad at all

Glenn T., Newegg
20 January 2008
  • Summary: Good card. Heat issues keep it from a 5 egg.
  • Pros: Very nice GPU for the price. Runs crysis ok. Older games run great. 3Dmark06=6200 on a FX-55
  • Cons: Gets hot. 83C full load, so i cranked the fan speed to 73% at all times, dropped it to less than 60C load.

Great card, great bundle

Philip W., Newegg
9 January 2008
  • Summary: I have this running with a Sapphire in Crossfire and I cannot be happier at the performance.
  • Pros: Awesome card, great performance for the price. Came with a great video game. The included GamerOSD is great for recording video and taking screenshots. Good hardware monitor and OC utility.
  • Cons: There was plastic film over the GPU cooler that made a burning smell. Be sure to remove it. =)

User Review

Anton B., Newegg
7 January 2008
  • Summary: ~17 FPS in Crysis CPU/GPU benchmark(All MAX) ~26 FPS in Call of Juarez DX10 Benchmark 3DMark'06 SM 3.0 Score: 5346 Marks 3DMark'06 SM 2.0 Score: 4510 marks
  • Pros: Low price and High performance. High OC potential. I was running this card at 900/1100MHz and it WORKS PERFECT. Stock cooler can hold ~58'C on 100% fan speed(noisy, but cool).
  • Cons: Noting... yet...

Good for the money

Mr C., Newegg
31 December 2007
  • Summary: Running great for a budget card. AMD is sinking with its CPUs, but they are really hitting homeruns with GPU's.
  • Pros: Low cost, Runs relatively cool, relatively quiet. Free game. Video playback is definitely improved with the new chip and PCIe 2.0.
  • Cons: Had trouble installing ATI x64 drivers on vista64, It would only accept the ASUS 64 bit drivers that came with it. Not sure why yet.

Great Card

Graeme C., Newegg
27 December 2007
  • Summary: Love the card, I haven't tried the included game, but the artwork on the card is fun to look at (before you close the case, that is!) I put this card in a Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R mobo and a Silverstone SG01 case.
  • Pros: Great value- very high performance for price. Not a huge heat producer- I have it in a MicroATX case that is the size of a breadbox and it has no issues running very, very cool. Included game is a bonus. High build quality with the heatsink. ATIs Vista x64 drivers work very well.
  • Cons: It didn't install itself? Seriously, the only con that I could find is that the card is physically gigantic. My MicroATX case barely fit it, so be aware that you may have issues in other small cases.
