Conclusion: I'll say it now, the mouse was not the most useful of things. While I had no problems with the response time or the layout of the buttons, the biggest issue I found was that you had a very limited area in which to work with as the mouse had to be on the tablet.
Excerpt: . For those that want a more professional tablet, the Intuos is the model you want. I’ve been using the Graphire line of tablets for years and never new what I was missing until I tried the Intuos tablet.
Conclusion: The original Intuos was a great product no doubt. With the introduction of the Intuos3, Wacom has taken user suggestions and built upon that. The improved resolution of the product was apparant especially in programs such a Photoshop which could take full advantage of the 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity. it's hard to describe the impact of the increased resolution, but I'd have to say that it was characterized by an even greater level of smoothness.
Pros: Greatly improved ergonomics, Solid construction, Extra parts included
Summary: Having used a verity of tablets over the years the almost marble finish of this makes it really smooth to rest on, the Pen is really comfortable and the action is first class. The A4 version is perfect for a designer or Photoshop user who's mostly editing and doing little typing, but someone who's combining editing with word processing may find the smaller A5 one a better option.
Pros: Great looking,, Pen is really accurate, Express keys are faster to use
Cons: Tricky to lift artwork sheath, Initial conflict with firewire drive, Large footprint for everyday use, Mouse scroll quite stiff
