Best choice for beginners

Anonymous, Newegg

  • Summary: If you have never used a drawing tablet before, start with this one, and see if you REALLY need an Intuos. They look nice, but unless you are a PROFESSIONAL DIGITAL ARTIST, you dont need an Intuos.
  • Pros: CHEAP, easy to install. And YES, it supports Vista x64 and 7 x64, some people just don't know how to find drivers. Good sesitivity, works great with Photoshop CS4 and Illustrator. In fact, you dont even need drivers, Vista and 7 recognized it.
  • Cons: It doesn't have the touchwheel the Intuos has. I have an Intuos at work and the only difference is the buttons on the left panel.

  • Summary: Other than the broken LED, this thing works just fine.
  • Pros: Works fine, sensitivity is pretty good. Don't know about the other utilities as I only use it to draw.
  • Cons: LED in the pen doesn't work, assumed it was broken until I decided to just try it out.

  • Summary: Got this as an alternative to typing due to arthritis. Helps a bit, good for quick notes, but can be a pain for it to reconize your handwriting stlye.
  • Pros: Cheap, fairly easy to use. Can be used with Vista 64 if download driver update. In fact I used it to write this review.
  • Cons: A little tedious to get it recognize your writing style. But easier than hunt and peck.

Works fine for me

  • Summary: I'm good with computers and my customers who are less confident seem to have more problems.
  • Pros: Low Cost. I was able to find and download a driver for my new Vista operating system, but not sure where I found that. Pen works fine, though.
  • Cons: I have recommended it to others and they have had trouble where I have not. Sometimes takes a minute to get it to turn on. If I were a graphic artist, it might not be accurate enough, not sure. I'm a teacher and use this over the internet for distance learning with smaller kids.

Could be worse

Devin G., Newegg

  • Summary: I would be completely satisfied with it if the pen weren't so poorly thought out. You get what you pay for, I guess. Still, for testing the water and seeing if I would enjoy having a more expensive tablet, it's okay.
  • Pros: It's cheap.
  • Cons: The pen is terrible. It shuts itself off to save battery power after about 30 seconds without sufficient activity. Apparently, I don't draw hard enough to warrant sufficient activity, because it keeps shutting off in the middle of drawing a line. And even if that weren't a problem, I'll be naviga...

Good value

  • Summary: There were many similar drawing tablets on the market; but this appeared to perform no less well than others but was cheaper. I haven't used it much, since for most purposes I am used to a mouse and found it easier to use except when drawing.
