Summary: I purchased this handheld GPS receiver because it was inexpensive.I took a weekend trip to Chicago,Ill. It works perfectly! The 3"x5" screen is easy to see, has great graphics and it is easy to use. Great buy!!!
Summary: This GPS is complete junk. Mine had repeated software problems after just 4 months of use. I had to reload the maps twice and it finally crashed for good. Customer service was no help - telling me to reload the maps both times only masked the issues. It's cheap, overpriced junk. Mine ended up crashing totally and is unusable.
Summary: For the price, you are getting extremely excellent quality. I ordered this refurbished from Buy.com for $119 in November '07. It didn't work right, so I sent it back and they sent me another. I live in NY & took the unit to Boston, Chicago & Florida. It worked flawlessly. I play with it around where I live, and it's very much on target.
Summary: I have been dragging my Whistler WGPX-550 on every business trip I take for two years. I have beaten the poor thing and its windshield holder too. THIS IS A PREMIUM GPS!! You can go out and pay double or triple easily but you cannot get a simpler, more user friendly, always works, always exact unit!! I should know as I sell mapping data cards to all manner of GPS accounts. I take 50 business trips a year for 3-7 days at a shot.
Summary: I bought this unit for my son and the troubles began immediately. The touchscreen seemed to vary on which option in which to lock up the unit. The only way to unlock the freeze was to remove power, including the battery. The company refused to replace the unit and sent us new software to load. That did not fix the problem. The problem is obviously with the unit, not the software.
Summary: This unit has some great features and ergonomics, but Whistler's choice of OS makes this unit annoyingly unreliable. Having to completely exit the GPS program before shutting down the system is a huge pain in the rear.
