Summary: Nice display but hard to navigate thru. The menu system is not very intuitive and you can't just go back from several of the screens which means you have to start over. The routing function is ok if you are going to stay on the hwy but otherwise it is lacking. If you can pick one up for under 20 bucks it might be ok but you would be better off to invest in a name brand unit.
Summary: This basic ViaMichelin X-930 Portable Handheld GPS Receiver was good for the cheap price, but I haven't been able to find updated maps for it. It will get you where you are going, but may take longer if there are new roads that are not in the unit. Purchased on Feb 05, 2010 for only 46.90 which included shipping, made it a deal to good to pass up since I didn't own a GPS.
Summary: This item is hard to follow the instructions and once you think that you have them corrected, you get an error message saying that your information does not match your search. I also tried the instructions on the web site which are identical to the inclose instructions and still the same results. Tried different methods , still same errors. Not worth all this problems! Thinking of returning the 2 items I requested.
Summary: I have to agree with some of the lower star comments. First, it is not user friendly. Second, it will not locate alot of addresses. Third, the instructions are very poor. Fourth and final, the screen is very difficult to read during the day. I am in the process of exchange to a better rated unit. You get what you pay for,"true in this case".
Summary: It looks like I bought this unit based on the very positive reviews only to come back and see the few less than positive reviews that are brand new. I've had this happen on several products now from Amazon - product has a lot of good reviews, I buy it and by the time I go back to review it there are several non-positve reviews. Makes you wonder if some are being written and scored by people involved with the products.
Summary: I really tried to like the Via Michelin, bought it with every intention of loving it in March 2007. But I feel compelled to tell most of you to "keep shopping." I bought it due to the excellent price, small thin size(compared to Garmin). I thought "how bad can it be?" I ordered it and had it shipped to my door, then took off on a 3400 mile trip with it. This is because my other GPS units were in other cars, with other family members already on other trips.
Summary: Bought this on Friday, worked with it today. It could not find my address or street, so one thinks use the gps coords to help. Well then you have to key in the entire coords, the unit should be able to default your current position and allow you to route from there. It could not find the shoe store I wanted a route to. I found it faster using yahoo online. This item will be returned Monday.
Summary: I bought my unit from J&R Music World for $199 with free shipping. I was immediatly impressed with the small size of the unit and the clear display. It picked up a GPS signal almost immdiatly and seemed to be fairly accurate. The problems started the second day, where it would not pick up a GPS signal at all. All the bars read 0. I waited about ten minutes before I tried a couple of soft resets, and finally got it to work.
