Summary: Been using it for two months now. Like the system a lot. Easy to understand, to follow while driving. Big screen is a plus. However, couldn't activate my "Lifetime Maps" service, maybe I need to call customer service. Otherwise, everything else works right. I like how if stuck in traffic, it gives you the option to recalculate and reroute your trip. The only downside is it doesn't accept gps coordinates.
Summary: I have a TomTom GO 910, that still works great and got XXL 550TM< hoping for similar results. They are very different. Although GO 910 is much older, it still faster, and the menu was easier to user then the new model. I guess with larger screen, lighter and new technology, it still cannot match with some old gps. There are new improvements on the new model. The suction that was a concern for some people, did not happen to me.
Pros: I love the large screen! Lifetime maps and traffic make it a great value. Worked properly out of the box. I, too, was confused why the unit wasn't advising me of upcoming turns in advance, until I read the manual. You must select a 'voice' that is compu
Cons: We went on a tour and a friend brought his Garmin along. He could switch his unit into pedestrian mode, and it showed the walking paths in the park we were touring. I couldn't figure out if my unit could do that, or how to even try. But, I'ld only had
Summary: Just bought this a few weeks ago, so far it has worked like advertised. I like the user map corrections, and the lifetime traffic and maps. Set up was easy, downloaded new maps through TomTom at home with no issues, first update did take around half an hour to complete. Also has other options that are free to download, safety alerts which alerts you of traffic cams. User interface is simple and uncluttered yet there are still various options.
Summary: I have owned and used the Tomtom for 6 months now and still love it. I was really surprised by all the negative comments, which is why I decided to write a review. I definitely agree with some of the complaints listed but my personal experience has been great! I did not own a gps until I bought my tomtom and only used google on my phone and my boyfriend's Magellan (2 years old) quite a bit prior to purchasing.
"Features = to Magellan & Garmin equals for much less."

Pros: Just bought this. Best Buy sale price $179 (11-17-10). Supposed to call distances AND street names. Unit, case, dash cradle and 3 yr replacement if dropped or wet, etc. for < $295. Compare Magellan 5045 LM or Garmin 1450 LMT. Costco $ a bit more.
Cons: ?? New purchase. Will report back in future.
Summary: I was the happy owner of a TomTom One 140 for the last 2 years. It was a Christmas gift I was thrilled to get because I'm directionally impaired. I loved it, menu was much easier to operate than Garmin, it got me where I needed to go, told me what lane to be in, a wonderful relationship that came to an end because of a careless mistake. I forgot I had put it under my seat and when repositioning the seat I heard a horrific "crunch".
