Summary: unit is easy to use the problem is auto planning at times the routs dont make sense for instance it will tell you to zig zag around a residential street to avoid a few stop lights, or rather than saying to make a u turn it will have you go around the block it does not say what side of the street the destanation is on just that your there.
Summary: I was pretty disappointed in this device. There is no slot for an SD card, no MP3 Player, the "Lifetime Traffic" requires an additional purchase of hardware to attach to the device. Very misleading marketing. The GPS does function as it should, although it seems to take longer to get a fix and to calculate route than my Go730 which I like a lot.
Summary: This GPS has limited POIs. Does not even show Walmart that is in the area I live that has been here for more than 15 years! Tried many other POIs, but generally disappointed by its performance. Routing is ok. But, sometimes, it tells you to turn where there is no turn. This happens when 2 roads merge but the road you are is straight. Clearly, this could be confusing when you drive in the area you are not familiar with.
Summary: I have had 3 previous Tom Tom GPS units with no problems before I was excited to get the larger 5" screen and traffic, but ran into a lot of problems and am returning the unit Problems 1) The unit kept falling off the window attachment 2) After 2 weeks, the traffic reciever doesn't work 3) After driving 6 hours in 2 days, the battery still won't hold a charge 4) Computer doesn't recognize the GPS unit 5) Tom Tom service had too many steps to get to a resolution - after 3...
Summary: Before I start my TomTom bashing just let me say upfront that I have one of the original style TomToms from a few years ago (I think they refer to it as the 130) and like it. Purchased the 540T XXL for myself for the traffic. The unit itself is fine. I like the way they incorporate the mounting cup now with dial up instead of trying to push the cup on the window and mount the GPS receiver.
Summary: Highly customizable, everything can be changed - map colors, voices, vehicles, load screen, exit screen and information bar position can all be changed. The 5" screen is easy to see and has a great deal of information displayed including - your current speed, distance to the next turn, direction of the next turn, current time, estimated time you will arrive, minutes left until you arrive...
Summary: Took the GPS out of the box, connected it to a computer with TomTom Home software installed. It immediately prompted me to create an account and when I did to update my maps because the shipping maps were out of date. Ok, sounds good. The sync process downloads new maps (fine), and then removes the existing maps from the device without backing them up first. Then it syncs new maps. The device could never complete the syncing process of new maps.
