TomTom XXL 540 S

CNET
19 April 2014
  • Summary: The TomTom XXL 540 S improves on the TomTom XL line by keeping the features we love while improving screen visibility; but the bigger size comes with compromised portability.
  • Cons: With a wide 5-inch screen and a thick EasyPort mount, pocketability goes out of the window. Routing from a moving vehicle is considerably slower than from a stationary one.

  • Excerpt:   TomTom XXL540S is widescreen GPS Navigator from TomTom. It leads the line of GPS deices loaded with the international maps and more specifically European maps. This is very useful especially if you prefer to rent a car while on vacation in Europe. TomTom XXL540S has full-color TFT LCD display. This display is touch enabled and you can use on-screen button to navigate through the menu. TomTom XXL540S has another good feature in our view.

TomTom XXL 540S

Macworld
5 December 2009
  • Excerpt: (1 items) These days, 4.3-inch-diagonal screens are the standard size on dedicated GPS navigation devices; but for some drivers, that size is still too small. In response, most of the top-tier GPS manufacturers have introduced models with bigger screens, anywhere from 4.7 to 5.2 inches. TomTom's XXL 540S has a 5-inch screen.
  • Pros: Sensible routes from TomTom's IQ Routes, Generous database of 7 million POIs, Large, easy-to-read 5-inch screen
  • Cons: Live traffic feature is an extra-cost option, Bluetooth interface not included
